I followed The Rules when dating (not sure how this sub feels about them) and ended up with a really great guy.

While we were dating, he did all of the calling, planning, doing etc. and I felt cherished and secure. We got engaged and married.

I dreamed of being a SAHW and doing the things I love full-time; cooking, baking, sewing, homemaking, caring for my physical appearance and my family while he provided a hopefully very comfortable lifestyle.

I have my own small business and so does he. I imagined after marriage I would start ramping down and he would start ramping up.

However, due to a number of issues, some of which were out of his control, his business ended up folding, while mine is actually on the path to growth.

It has been about 4 months now and I am starting to get concerned about the emerging dynamic. I feel pressured to work more and more to keep up with my business (and to be honest, the money to maintain our lifestyle) while he continues to talk about new ventures, network and make some progress towards them, but not with the fiery urgency that I feel I bring to my day-to-day work even though I would rather be a housewife!

This has led to many fights and poor behavior on my part as I feel resentful and then guilty for being resentful.

I am even starting to worry that I will have to be the breadwinner or the business-minded one long term, or that I underestimated his dominance-level and/or ambition.

I have tried to address this with him but it doesn’t go over very well as he gets emotional and says he already feels like a failure and I am not respecting him and I am making everything worse.

Edit: Question is how best to support my husband in creating the more desirable dynamic from where we are now

Edit: I love my husband and don’t want to fight. I know he is trying to balance recovery with moving forward, but many of our fights begin when I am overwhelmed having a really hard day and I notice that he is playing video games and/or reading comics all day. He says he is resting/recovering. Any insight on understanding men/why he needs this/how it’s helping us would be appreciated!
