I'm curious as to the individual beliefs such denizens of this Internet community hold.

Do you always talk this way?

Feminism represents equality across the board. Any person who says they are a feminist and calls for actions which don't encourage equality, is not a feminist.

Why are you here, again?

I see on this site many voices complaining about "misandry" and as they themselves combat vehemently against the view of "hatred against men" don't do anything constructive and only seek to dominate, destroy, or divert those opposed to their point of view, which very much encourages those perceived "against" to bear arms in retaliation and be accused as "misandristic" to fuel the flames once more.

Awkward run on sentence. Oh, and your gynocentrism is showing.

Overall I give this post a D-. Would not read again.

[–]NaturalPeanutButter 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Here, let me answer for him.

Why are you here, again?

Oh, well you see I've internalized this feminized society's message that anything masculine is bad. I've also read that you gentlemen will respect me just for my genitals so I came here and figured you'd instantly make me your leader and respect my viewpoint and figured I'd cash in for the sake of the womyn.

Awkward run on sentence. Oh, and your gynocentrism is showing.

Oh no, don't misunderstand me. You see, the theory I've read says that society has always been patriarchal. By default, I'm not gynocentric at all because I'm a product of this culture. I'm sure you'll agree. Now, let's talk about how to strip the world of masculinity, shall we?

I write this way when I'm feeling ponderous and have hours to spend writing and editing myself. I don't edit myself enough, it's true, but I enjoy the expression, the exercise. That's my right, as is yours to exercise your brevity.

Pardon me if I'm interpreting wrong, but isn't TRP gynocentrism? Isn't it about getting laid? By women? Notches on belts, that sort of thing? I don't imagine many gay men following TRP, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm here to understand what drives individuals to believe that TRP is a valid and positive methodology to live one's life and treat others of the opposite sex within a society. My understanding is that the TRP method relies on manipulation and lying, through particular tactics designed to belittle, dominate and oppress/suppress others, for an individual's minimum material gains compared to the psychological cost on society. To me it doesn't seem like an efficient system when considering the whole. Again, these are my personal observations and ones which I extend to you all the means to educate through reasoned debate and friendly exchange. I just want to understand why.

I can't tell if this is a troll or not, so if it is a troll congratulations I guess you confused me and got me to reply. You've typed out a lot of words but essentially have said nothing and haven't really extrapolated on any ideas. What exactly are you on about? There's no coherent thought throughout your paragraphs.

Hello sir,

I too consider myself a feminist and agree with at least SOME of the principals you espouse.

For example, I believe that we should not treat people differently based on gender. One time, I got in an argument with a person and this person had the nerve to slap me, call me a sexist pig, and claw fingernails into my skin. If this person had been a man, I would have punched him right in the face in retaliation for that violence. I did what any feminist would have done. I gave this person no special considerations based on gender and punched this 100 lb person so hard that this person literally flew across the room. I am quite proud of treating women exactly as I would treat a man.

Once, I saw a person being mugged. Normally, I have the inclination to help out a woman in distress, but realized that I would not have extended the same courtesy to a man. Being a feminist, I treated her exactly as I would treat a man and ignored the mugging. Being a feminist is hard work.

What actions positive or negative you undertake are your own responsibility and will be perceived as such at the time they are undertaken. As for what others do to you, be it positive or negative, is it an entirely necessary exercise to equalise in return? I feel that's a material way of thought, like thinking that lead can be turned to gold because they're both made from matter. The spirit of feministic equality isn't entirely about a material balancing of equality, although that can factor where the realm of the material intersects politics. It is about allowing others the ability to access the same privileges and rights.

If I gave you a present, would you feel an obligation to give me one back? Instead of considering this as being an equalisation of things given/received, let's consider it an equal area for the potential for exchange. Like a conversation, sharing knowledge, enjoying the company of others, the exchange doesn't have to be immediate, and especially not material — in fact, you have no obligation to do anything; to me this is equality and that is the privilege I extend to you all.

If I gave you a kiss, would you punch me in the face? You're allowed if you feel that my action influenced you to that course, but as any action is performed, the actor must accept the responsibility of it and all that entails: myself and the kissing; you and whatever course of action you take. Even if you didn't do anything, to do nothing is to still do something that contributes to the exchange and the perceived judgment of others. Maybe you like the feeling of my lips on your cheek — that's for you to decide at the time. I think respect and allowance for others to do as they will is an important facet of equality.

I'd certainly hope that you'd do as you felt pertinent to your own judgment, not to that of others (but in saying that, the perceived judgment of others influences and corrals us in many ways daily). We perceive the world using the knowledge that we know at the time that we know it. It sounds so obvious to state, but there's a truthy element to it. When we learn more, we either affirm what we know or we change it.

I would sincerely hope that any action of violence would be considered much further down the line in any priority list of actions to take, but you do as you feel necessary. I believe that this is respect of equality. I am a pacifist, which means violence is the least likely cause of action I'd take, unrelated to being a feminist. Equality doesn't mean that I have to talk or socialise with you because I socialise with others, it means that I allow you the same space to do what you will as I do for others and for myself.

My interpretation of TRP as exercising powerplays and manipulation on others for manufacturing end results isn't one of equality, it's one where those who employ TRP tactics for personal gains as being shallow and material and may miss out on an actual honest exchange of trust and love, all because maybe they fear being genuine or showing vulnerability as it is a perceived weakness in a majority patriarchal society.

It's great to see a community of people uniting together to share information and be connected to like-minded souls, but I feel the TRP cause is one that will cause continued harm to the community the more they resist the notion of allowing others to make their own decisions, devoid of "powertalk" and manipulation. The biggest thing I don't understand about the TRP is why is there little tolerance, respect and trust in the will of others?

There is De jure equality and De facto equality. Latin for by law and by actuality.

Women have already De jure equality. The law guarantees them equal pay, equal treatment, equal rights.

Women do not have De facto equality. They receive lighter sentences for the same crimes. They almost always receive more favorable divorce settlement. They receive better treatment from other people. They get easier tests for military positions.

You are not a true feminist if you do not realize this. Why should women be allowed into West Point academy with a flex arm hang instead of a full pull up test? That is patronizing and insulting to women to hold them to childish standards, assuming that they are incapable.

Between the two of us, I am the black knight feminist and you are the white knight faker. I fight for female equality, literally in some cases. You are just a disgusting poser.

[–]doublereignbeau1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Also. Honest exchange of trust and love is called a unicorn. Every red pill man has heard the legend. Few have ever seen or found a unicorn. If you believe unicorns exist, we feel sorry for you.

[–]zoundozer[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't need to believe, I know. Also, it's not a unicorn, it's just a regular nice good cool relationship. I'd recommend not "putting things into the too-hard basket" by giving it sweet fanciful names like unicorn.

You take a lot of words to say very very little. Who are you trying to impress?

Any women who come across his reddit account. If there's no actual women doing it, he'll imagine some or at least boost his ego by imagining how proud they'd be if they knew but keeping it a secret because he's a genuinely good guy.

I'm not trying to impress, I'm just entertaining myself. I like to write and think and express such things. Sometimes life is as simple as that.

In terms of my place of ignorance, I'm curious as to what I'm saying is wrong and particularly why so that I can learn why.

[–]aboveaveragebabydick4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You're trying too hard. You're letting your feelz override reality.

This would be a good place to replay Conscious men video...

Dear Women,

I come to you today as a man committed to becoming more conscious in every way. I feel deep love, great respect and a growing sense of worship for the gifts of the feminine. I also feel deep sorrow about the destructive actions of the unconscious masculine in the past and present. I want to apologize to you and make amends for those actions, in order to bring forth a new era of co-creation with you.

As I become more conscious, I grow more aware of the play of masculine and feminine energies: within me, within you and in all of life. I know that we all have access to the full spectrum of these energies. I also have a growing awakening to the dimension beyond all dualities, free and open as the sky.

I commit to owning and stewarding a masculinity that honors and celebrates us as equals. I know that in order to truly honor you as a multi-dimensional woman, I must stand fully present in myself, and own the gifts I have to share with you. We can create great miracles together by nurturing each other in a conscious way, by treating each other with reverence and respect, and by worshiping the divinity expressed in both masculine and feminine energy.

As men, our relationship to the feminine has often been unconscious. I feel sorrow that women and feminine energy have been for so long subjugated and oppressed. Throughout history, men have raped and abused you, burned you at the stake, bought and sold your bodies for sexual pleasure, barred you from religious and political office, relegated you to subservient chores, forced you to hide your faces and even cut off your organs of sexual pleasure.

I may not have done these things myself, but I am aware of the forces in the unconscious masculine psyche that feel threatened by and then seek to dominate the feminine. Many of the men who have oppressed or abused you are no longer alive. Among the living, many men may be unable to apologize because they remain shackled in a prison of anger, fear and shame. On behalf of my gender, I apologize to you for our unconscious actions when we were angry, scared and in the grip of destructive forces in our psyche. I choose no longer to contribute to those forces, nor to be run by them in my own life. I offer you this apology in hopes that we can make a fresh start in a spirit of co-creation.

I acknowledge that the religions of the past several thousand years have been mainly founded by and propagated by men. We have often acted as if we have the last word on God and the spiritual life, when all we have really known is the masculine expression of those things. As a result, we have suppressed more heartfelt, connective and inclusive spiritualities. I commit now to also honoring the spirituality of the divine feminine.

I honor your deep connection to the earth. As men, our relationship to our planet and its resources has often been motivated by competition, acquisition and domination. We mistakenly believed that expansion would protect us from encroachment, and in the process we violated the sanctity of the Earth and disturbed its natural rhythms. I commit to listening to the intuitive sense you have of how to heal our planet and make it thrive.

I honor your intuition and your profound capacity for feeling. As men, we have often devalued feeling and intuition in favor of a view dominated by data and logic. This way of being seemed necessary to move humanity beyond superstition and animalism, but in the process we lost much of the heart of life. I commit to respecting the arts of feeling, intuition and wisdom of the feminine heart, so that together we can integrate them into a balanced view of life, that honors and includes all wisdoms.

I honor the beauty and integrity of your body. When we nurture each other through our bodies with awareness and devotion, there are no boundaries to the love that we can generate. I feel sorrow that men have used your beauty as a form of commerce in prostitution and pornography. In the grip of lust we have often lacked the skills to ask gracefully for intimacy or to take ‘No’ for an answer. I take a stand against any form of enforced or soulless commercialization of woman’s beauty, and I respect that your body belongs to you.

I honor your capacity for peaceful resolution of conflicts, your ability to apologize effectively and forgive with grace. We men have waged endless wars over our disagreements. In the act of defending our lands and protecting our families, we became addicted to the fight itself. By contrast, it is rare to find an invasion or war instigated by a woman. I apologize for dragging you into these wars, and for the rape, murder, broken hearts and damaged families that resulted from them. We welcome your wisdom in creating a world that can get along without resorting to destruction.

I honor your capacity to listen to your body and its needs for food, rest and playtime. I celebrate your ability to pay attention to what is here, right now. As men, our preoccupation with goals and results often has burnt us out and made us unavailable for relationship. I know we have drawn you into this imbalance as well, so often frustrating your longing to connect. The time for a process-centred way of being is now upon us. I welcome your wisdom to maintain balance in our bodies, and in our ways of meeting.

I honor your sense of compassionate justice. In our justice system, men have dominated as judges and police, build prisons and revered the principle of punishment. I welcome you to work with us in bringing the return of the heart to our system of justice.

I also know that global economics have been dominated by the unconscious masculine, often living in a sense of lack and greed. As a result, many people have been left impoverished and disempowered. With your natural sense of nurturing and abundance, I know we can work together to create a truly caring global economics.

In apologizing to you for the hurts we men have caused you, I acknowledge that I and many of my brothers have also felt hurt by our mothers, our sisters, our partners and ex-partners. As a conscious man I am willing to feel those hurts fully within myself and release them. I forgive you for any ways you may have acted unconsciously, as I forgive myself and my gender for our own waking sleep.

From this day, moving forward, I vow to treat your heart as the sacred temple it is, and I commit to honoring the feminine in you and me and in my relationship to all life. I know that by leaving the past behind and joining hands in the present, we can create a synergy of our strengths. Together, there is nothing we cannot do. Together, we can make miracles.

It's nice that those guys felt it necessary to express like that and also don't feel any shame in undertaking such an action. I'm sure they made a lot of emotionally impoverished women feel valued and significant, which when you consider the whole is mad respectful and big ups to them.

Time is money. Simplify your language around here. We aren't idiots, just busy.

Explore our concept that "sexual strategy is amoral." I agree with you on a moral level, and I tried your way for many years. But I wasn't happy. The feminist method of courting consistently failed me and left me feeling worthless every time. Then I made a commitment to "do what works." Part of that happened to involve total rejection of feminism. Now I'm becoming the guy who girls used to fuck after rejecting me. Never felt better in my life.

All this bullshit philosophical debate carries no weight to me. Sure, it's selfish. If the thought that your personal sacrifice may one day bring about greater equality gives you inner peace, who am I to judge? That just doesn't work for me. I just got sick of being abused by people looking to capitalize on that sacrifice.

Adopt TRP for a year and tell me you don't feel better... and tell me that the women around you aren't happier as well. Then we'll talk.

[–]zoundozer[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Thanks for your comment, I appreciate that. This is the kind of feedback I enjoy; the kind of insight I'd like to read. I'm not sure I understand entirely the line "Now I'm becoming the guy who girls used to fuck after rejecting me" because that could mean a range of things — some good, some bad. I won't presume anything in this instance. As an aside: I give my time for free and I don't expect anyone to do the same.

Through the loose threads of language in your post above I detect that there may have been an issue of self confidence/esteem, and low self image is never a particularly defining marker of attractive attraction (generally speaking — everyone's different, of course). It makes sense that those who exude confidence are more likely to be trusted to handle a job, or for others to assume it represents capability, whether they have it or not (hell, look at most successful politicians, ugh) because it inspires less doubt in the audience, or allows them to be lazier and expect someone else to do or be something for them. From what I've read so far it seems TRP only espouses material means for judging whether someone is "good" and "valuable" to society; there's no emphasis on intrinsic value to the self, aside from one's extrinsic projection, relying on further judging one's own self under the presumption that others' opinions are worth more than one's own, since they rely on others' to support them.

Furthermore, justifying one's self worth in relation to quantifiable material properties admonished in public view cheapens the purpose and can devalue one's worth when "the market crashes"; one's worth already exists in the mere act of living and is already priceless and cannot be depreciated (unless you're an absolute fucking douchebag asshole, which I'm worried that certain TRP "tipz 'n' trix" may encourage). I'm aware that I'm diverging from original debates on feminism, into more philosophical and psychological areas that I'm not entirely aware of consciously, nor could sufficiently describe in commonly packaged word groups, as I do admit I'm more for the evocation of feelz than I am of the strict regurgitation of words I read and hear verbatim.

About the only thing I've seen so far that TRP espouses of any particular integrity is the encouragement of taking responsibility and care of one's own health and life situation and gaining confidence from that, so that's good. Having sweet pecs, lean lats and tight glutes alone won't go the distance in a society filled with other people though. Not unless there's a whole bunch of piano moving needing to go on (tight glutes would most def help with that). I guess I feel that a more empathetic ear to others is integral to creating and sustaining meaningful relationships — this may or may not be related to feminism, intimate relationships, and it most certainly isn't anything related to gender.

If TRP is primarily about restoring one's self esteem, assuming that once the self esteem is at a sufficient level for the TRP individual, then what? I think there's a lot of assumptions from TRP'ers that "those on the outside" who judge the TRP'ers unequivocally know exactly who they are, what they want, are 100% aware of their actions, and act in complete accordance with their conscious motivations. I think people are generally a lot more haphazard — especially those who don't value rationality and logic so strongly as TRP'ers. I say this with absolute certainty of myself. I frequently question why I'm here (as a previous commenter did too) and can only say I am compelled by whatever-it-may-be and will eventually be compelled by the same whatever-it-may-be when it's time to leave.

I feel(z) there needs to be room for tolerance in any relationship (especially with one's self), and that tolerance is often exercised by use of empathy, compassion and patience. Maybe those need more work than one's firmly sculpted glutes — there's no whey protein nor squat-based routine that could exercise and engorge one's emotional capacity like a rock hard member; it takes a willingness to think outside of one's self and means, to "feel the burn" as tears flow down the face until laughter erupts from the heart: less REPS more EMPS (Empathy? Get it? Haha). The frustration a lot of TRP'ers talk about on this site is equally significant as it is insignificant, so don't sweat the small stuff; keep calm and party on Wayne.

I wrote up a very long reply to this and just deleted it.

The point of what I said with my prior comment is that none of this debate over what is "useful" or "valuable" to society is relevant to an argument attempting to defend the validity of TRP.

TRP is about accomplishing goals. Those goals vary by person and by life stage. Right now I want to get laid. One friend of mine wants to find a wife already, and another is looking for ways to life a fulfilling non-sexual life. In 5 years, I bet we'll all be looking for different things again.

All TRP does is offer solutions based on observations of those around us who are actually successful. The societal value/utility of "sweet pecs" doesn't matter to me, all I know is that I got rejected by girls who then went on to sleep with lots of muscly guys, so I decided to get muscly, and now I suddenly get more affection from more, hotter girls.

(edited this point) TRP is a fancy pop culture reference, but the real meaning is as simple as saying "just do what works." It's amoral because every TRPer has his or her own opinions of morality, which, when applied to the "do what works" framework, impose individual constraints on what we're willing to do in order to get results. But what's key about us is that our morality has to come from within... we won't be moral just to prove how great we are to others.

I sense that your moral code is based off of feminism and earning the approval of women and your feminist mentors. I used to be just like you in that sense. I KNEW that this TRP (back then, PUA) stuff would work, but I refused to believe it because (a) I wanted to impress others, thinking that would make me happy, and (b) it would require effort. "Swallowing the Red Pill" means giving up your need to impress others, and committing to put in the effort to make yourself happy and successful.

Cheers for your post. I respect what you wrote and the line about the principles of what TRP is and that it is agnostically moral. I heard that a friend was interested in this method and I wanted to look into it and research it to better understand it, and I found a lot of the literature online seemed misogynist which is rather amoral from my perspective, so I guess that's how I then interpreted it all as — which is unfair to the whole. Your comment grounded that spin into a neutral space, so I really appreciate that.

Meanwhile, I found this video series online and she says some great things that I thought some on here may appreciate to hear: http://kimanami.com/sexual-mastery-for-men-video-series/
