A question for redpillers: how would you reduce rape in countries where rape is commonplace?

I don't see where it's "our problem". No one here is advocating rape (despite what TBP/etc would claim). This isn't a sub focused on women or women's issues. So why ask us?

I would submit it's the general "all men are responsible for anything a man does" bullshit which generally comes out of, surprise, feminism.

Buuuut, so long as you're asking, and after saying that I'm not an authority or representative of anyone or anything, most especially TRP:

I would emphasize self-defense if I were magically the rape-prevention advisor. Just as we don't run PSA campaigns suggesting murderers not murder or burglars not burgle, but instead we suggest ways of protecting yourself, so too I believe that if women want to lower their chances of being assaulted or battered in any form, then learning self-defense techniques is valuable.

Heretical, shocking, victim-blaming, I know. But it's so crazy it just might work. And, in fact, it has. There are plenty of stories of women fighting back and thus not getting raped. And plenty of others of women just "shutting down" and not resisting and getting raped. So, crazy thought, teach them to fight back.

Of course, there's a risk of escalation. But since the premise usually is that rape is the worst possible crime, then what's a little risk of death or dismemberment versus the risk of getting raped?

Education and prosecution of rape as a crime. But it doesn't help to redefine rape, a la western culture, into anything a woman dislikes/regrets doing.

What about countries where rape is commonplace?

I take issue with the fact that rape is as commonplace as the media and the rest of Reddit with suggest. I know Reddit has a hate boner for India right now regarding their "rape epidemic" so let's concentrate on that.

It says that the city of Delhi, home to 7.5 million women, recorded 585 cases of rape in 2012, compared with a total of 484 cases from the cities of Mumbai (232 cases), Calcutta (68), Chennai (94) and Bangalore (90 cases). Delhi, Mumbai and Calcutta are megacities with populations of more than 10 million people. Source

Lets compare those number of rapes to some American cities with populations less than 10 million:

Houston (Current Population: 2.145 million): 771 rapes in 2011

Los Angeles (Current Population: 3.82 million): 828 rapes in 2011

New York (Current Population: 8.3 million): 1092 rapes in 2011

Some would argue that because of India's cultural influences, rapes aren't reported as much as other places, but that's a moot point. The same thing could be argued for the US as many feminists do. There's no way to know the true numbers, only the numbers that are reported in actual statistics. And the numbers don't substantiate an actual "rape epidemic" in places such as India as reported by mainstream media.

Well, we're dealing with a lot of different cultures here and different kinds of rape; A South African rapes a child believing that sex with a virgin will cure AIDS, A Kazakhstani abducts and rapes a woman as a part of traditional "bride kidnapping", An Egyptian sees a woman wearing Western clothing and assumes that she is a nymphomaniac and drags her off, An American prisoner makes another man his bitch to establish hierarchy.

There are so many different scenarios that it doesn't make sense to offer generalized solutions beyond perhaps the development and distribution of cheaper self defense tools (guns, tazers, mace) and training for those who acquire them.
