The trick is to realize that this is for you. If you are trying to bone a woman, don't bring it up.

And all women are different. I picked up a girl because I noticed she was wearing an attack on titan (anime) hoody and we spoke about anime and manga. The Sunday before that I was discussing the same anime with a girl. Both attractive.

But then I started dating this girl who has 0 interest in all of that and thinks it's stupid. So I don't bring it up.

What I do and watch is for me.

Unless it's terribly weird like collecting MLP dolls or something of that nature then there is no need to get rid of it completely. Everyone has hobbies, for example I like video games, collecting games and books, and computers which may be considered nerd stuff. I see no need to just completely trash my hobbies to try and fit some broad's or society's ideal standard of a man.

As long as you are taking care of your business, body and mind, and have confidence you're fine. Have your hobbies.

I have a buddy that was the hardest fucker I knew since 3'rd grade (I think he actually killed a guy now that I look back) but he was actually quite nerdy as well.

Dude, you just need to realize, that you shouldn't do anything to gain the approval of a single person except yourself.

The point that you need to internalize, is that you shouldn't let things like WoW RUN your life. Aka, don't spend 40+ hours a week on the game and neglect important things like food prep, gym time, reading, etc.

I play wow and overwatch still, but maybe like a couple hours a week max, mostly just to hang out with RL friends that still play.

Now, if you are just getting started, maybe taking a break from things like that would be a good idea. Give yourself a chance to build healthy and constructive habits.

Just don't come on here, telling people not to do stuff simply because it is perceived as nerdy.

You don't have to get rid of it completely, but you do need to separate it from your identity. No one of value wants to spend their time with someone who talks about nothing but tv, movies, or games. At most those things should be a hobby or pastime.

I disagree with this post in a lot of ways.

I don't think "nerd stuff" hurts you. It shows you're a human being with interests instead of some loser who can't decide anything for themselves so they follow what seems acceptable.

Now, yeah, wearing costumes and shit is weird. But owning comic books? Be real. No one's analyzing you that deeply to where they're going to judge you for that.

There's nothing wrong with decompressing through enjoyment of whatever niche entertainment you decide to partake in. That's normal human behavior. As long as you aren't one of these freaks who actually think they're a comic book character or have some obsessive fanaticism then you're fine.

Robert Graves the British poet and writer was a nerd. He served as a subaltern in an infantry battalion on the western front during WW1. He wqs badly wounded, left in a field hospital to die because they didn't want to waste time operating on him. By accident he was thrown into a mass grave and half buried.

The next day the grave diggers heard him screaming for help so they dragged him back to the field hospital. They decided since he had survived 24+ hours maybe they should operate on him. Obviously he managed lto survive all that because he went on to write many books.

Probably you after 1 day on the western front in the trenches, you would probably be crying like a baby, sitting in the corner, holding yourself and rocking back and forth.

History doesn't have many examples of nerd-like activities which are kind of a phenomenon of recent times. I doubt the generals of ancient Rome would care if they were into dungeons and dragons for some relaxing in between slaughtering.

Once you are as bad-ass as you always wanted to be, you can get away with anything. Until that's happened, avoiding nerdy things and people is generally a good idea because they can prevent growth and social climbing.
