Introduction

Recent events in my life have reminded me, once again, as clear as day, the extent to which AWALT is true. AWALT is one of those cornerstones of TRP that is both fundamental and hard to grasp. So I'm throwing my two cents in to try to explain what is the T in AWALT based on my own experience.

How Emotions Create Reality

One of the very key aspects of what AWALT means is the very close relationship between emotion and volition for women. For women, emotions are extremely powerful and are able to create their perception of reality. You've all seen this happen: she was hurt by something you said, now she views you as a bad person. She felt tingles from something Chad said, so now Chad is a desirable person, regardless of how many terrible qualities Chad might have that might be obvious to the rest of us. She feels bad for knowing that being fat is undesirable, so standards of beauty are bad. All of these things she really believes are true. In that moment that she experiences these feelings, she really believes that you’re a bad person because she was hurt by something you said, that Chad is great and desirable, and that beauty standards are evil and out to get her. It might not seem logical to you, and that’s precisely it – it isn’t logical. But the important thing to remember here is that her perception of reality can be driven totally by what she feels, rather than an evaluation of what she has observed.

How Emotions are Created Strategically

The inverse is equally true. Women can create emotions when they think it will be advantageous to the situation. Emotions don’t exist in a vacuum and they don’t exist by accident. Emotions exist in order to serve a specific purpose. If a guy punches you in the face and you get mad as hell, that’s not an accident – that’s your evolution getting you ready to fight. When you are scared to death and your heart races and adrenaline pumps, that’s not an accident – that’s your evolution getting you ready to run like hell. Human beings are machines, remarkably finely tuned for a certain type of competition and survival.

But fight or flight are not the only emotions that serve a very practical function. Women’s ever-complex emotions can be intentionally created depending on the circumstances when she thinks that people seeing her exhibit those emotions will help her to get what she wants.

Let me show a really oversimplified example of how this works, and how clearly this kind of behavior can be hardwired into people.

In this video the kid only cries when there’s someone there to see him crying. Crying CAN be an expression of overwhelming emotion – but more often it’s a really simplistic tool to elicit a response from those around you. Have you ever seen someone cry not because they were sad, but because they thought it was situationally strategic for people to see them crying? I'm willing to bet you have.

Now check out this one, which made its rounds through reddit a while back, I’m sure a lot of you have already seen it:

This woman is caught stealing from this guy on the beach, so she becomes enraged and tries to attack him. She manufactured this anger because she thought this would resolve the situation on her behalf. He hasn’t actually done anything offensive, there’s no logical explanation for why she might be angry. But it’s not logical, it’s strategic. Women can create real emotions out of thin air when they think having those emotions will give them a strategic advantage in a situation. In this case, her goal is to avoid accountability. Angry confrontation is a good way to do that because our culture doesn't really give any consequences for women who do this. I don't know how this story turned out but there's a reason that r pussy pass is full of violent confrontation. Women know just how strategically useful a tool anger is in our culture.

I don’t have a video of the following, but I’m sure you can all relate to this situation. Imagine this – a woman is caught doing something wrong, maybe cheating, maybe lying, and in response to being caught, instead of fessing up and admitting guilt and apologizing, she cries and displays an inordinate amount of guilt. She is sooooo uncontrollably guilty and soooo disproportionately sorry. Why? Because this emotion is strategic. If you press someone who is soooo guilty, it’s emotionally equivalent to kicking someone while they’re down. It makes you the bad guy. She’s not actually guilty, this guilt is manufactured to give her over an advantage over you in this situation. Specifically, she believes it makes her immune to accountability. And she’s usually right. It usually works.

Why You Shouldn’t “stick your dick in crazy.”

This old adage is true, but why exactly is it true? What’s the difference between a “crazy” woman and a “sane” woman? A “good” woman and a “bad” woman? The way I view it is the extent of this relationship between volition and emotions which is AWALT. All women have this extremely powerful relationship between their volitions and emotions, but not to an equal extent. There are good women who are patient, self-aware, emotionally stable, who make good mothers and wives, given that you hold appropriate frame. And there are women who have absolutely no conscience, who are rabid, Machiavellian sociopaths for whom the relationship between emotion and volition are absolute and unbroken, and who won’t have any hesitation concocting any manner of unthinkable malice against you if she has even the slightest emotional inclination to do so. And there are degrees between. It is a spectrum. A lot of your success in your dealings with women will come from your ability to distinguish where on this spectrum a woman is, and therefore, just how “dangerous” she is, so to speak. However, the important thing to remember is that all women are on this spectrum. That’s what AWALT means.

Men often make the mistake, when they like a girl, of thinking that “she’s not like other girls.” They think they’ve found the girl that this doesn’t apply to. This happens because the combination of emotions and situation in her life at that moment are such that they drive her to treat him well. So he lets his guard down and forgets that she, too, is on this spectrum and she, too, is a ticking time bomb if he forgets how women operate internally.

I’m guilty of this. I’ve made this mistake again and again and again, and I felt like such an idiot every time. For me and for many this is the single most difficult aspect of the red pill to swallow completely. Throughout my life, the women that I was closest to I thought were different. I’m one of those guys you might call a “natural.” I didn’t need to study game, I knew it instinctively. Also I’m tall, and somewhat good looking. So I largely had good relationships with women. And every single time, there came a moment where something flicked in her mind, some little piece of the situational context or her emotional makeup changed, and we went from being allies to enemies. Even as a child I remember my mother’s erratic behavior. I remember being a child and thinking to myself: if someone can love you one day, and hate you the next day, and then love you again the following day, and you've not changed, then how can either emotion be real? The answer is kind of that they aren’t. My mother didn’t really love me, and she didn’t really hate me. Neither did yours. Not in any meaning of "love" and "hate" that men mean when they say these words or experiences these emotions. Neither did any of the women I’ve ever known. Circumstances were such that these feelings arose in her but they are not permanent or unconditional, not even in mothers.

These emotions arose as a reflection of circumstance. Circumstances change, and then so will those emotions. Even love.

And this is why TRP always says that a woman can never love you in the way that you want to be loved. That women aren’t capable of loyalty. Because the nature of women’s emotions is contextual and strategic and subject to change in a way that you can’t predict and doesn’t make sense to you.

What to Do About It

Traditional societies were constructed in such a way that limited womens’ ability to act on these emotion/volition link. Communities, families, and restrictive behavioral expectations put huge barriers around which emotions were strategic to create, the ability to act on these emotions.

Our society has removed every single barrier to women’s behavior, every single expectation from them. Women won’t innately feel responsible or accountable or loyal because for her, under the circumstances of our society, it’s more strategic not to feel these things. There's no mystery about it. If no one is imposing on her responsibility or accountability or loyalty on pain of shame or punishment, then she’s likely not to feel these things because of the emotion-volition link.

How, then, can a lifelong commitment even work?

The answer is that it often doesn’t. And that’s why we say you shouldn’t marry. Speak nothing of the contractual gun held in her hand and pointed at your head, how the risk of a failed marriage places 100% of the burden on the man and 100% of the benefit on the woman... the concept of marriage in our progressive culture in which there are no restrictions on women's behavior, no strong family or community ties to encourage loyalty, requires that women's innature nature will be towards permanent lifelong loyalty. And no prudent man would choose to build a house directly on top of an active fault line.

And honestly, it’s not something I’m happy about. I really hate the fact that according to our laws and culture, marrying a woman and starting a family is like surgically implanting a ticking time bomb in your chest that you don’t know when, or if, it will explode. But you know the statistics about how likely divorce rape is, you know women's nature, you know how likely it is to explode. And maybe you’re really RP and you’ve got frame of iron, and you know how to make the bomb less likely to explode. But you can never be sure of it. All you can do is try and hope.

It’s difficult for guys to swallow this reality because it’s not in our nature. We want to have companionship. We want to love women, sometimes we are drawn to the old fashioned idea of romance and lifelong companionship. These are attractive ideas. In spite of what people say about TRP, we don't hate women. I personally would love to have someone to share my life with. There is something very attractive about the old fashioned idea of relationships.

But what I want doesn’t matter, and it doesn’t change the reality of the situation. Because I’ve made this mistake before, I’m speaking not from a place of theory but from a place of experience. You don’t have to make this mistake either.

If you are going to be close to a woman, to share your life with her, enjoy it to the fullest. But be aware that she is a ticking time bomb. Be aware of the strategic nature of her emotions, and the emotional nature of her perceptions. Be aware that even her warmest, gentlest, most loving emotions are still a result of this emotion-volition spectrum and that they can turn on you at any moment. Be prepared for the worst. Be aware of what she can use against you. It’s not the dangers we’re prepared for that destroy us – it’s the dangers we are unprepared for.

All those men who were divorce raped and had their lives ruined, none of them thought they were in danger. None of them thought they were taking such a risk. But they were. Don’t let this happen to you. Understand the nature of how women’s volition and emotions operate so that you can enjoy their company without making yourself vulnerable.
