Hey dudes.

I've read trp for a while now, and just wanted to post something huge that helped me. Full disclosure: I'm a recovering heroin addict, I quit a little over a year ago. At first I was doing great, and then I fell into a deep depression and was unable to recognize why. I sought help from friends and therapsists, psychologists, psychiatrists. But no one really helped. In some cases, it was actually detrimental. Fast forward a few months into the future and I reconnect with an old friend of mine. I talked to him about my problems, and I felt so much better. Why is this?

I realized that all my friends at school (my major, social work is 99% female), my therapist, and shrinks were all female. I was getting advice from females, and using it in my life and relationships. This was a huge mistake, and something I've finally figured out. I need to seek emotional help from other males, not women. Because although they may say they are looking for their best interests, a lot of time they are not.

I am grateful at having figured this out. I feel as though a weight has been lifted from me. I owe all of it to this forum, which has allowed me to begin to change my beliefs and attitudes about life. Still got a lot of stuff to work on, but I'm on the right path. Peace!
