OP, I appreciate the intent but the way you are going about this is going to fuck you over.

Security is a mindset, not a product. You can't slap veracrypt on your PC and call it a day. In fact, the false sense of security of doing that might be more dangerous than having your harddrive unencrypted but being more mindful of other things.

For example, you haven't said anything about your email. If you are like most people, your primary email account is the key to your digital life. It's going to be connected to your facebook, bank, utilities, airline and whatever else.

How secure is your email? do you have a strong password? no stupid, easy to guess 'security' questions? 2-factor authentication? that's good, but what about your logged-in devices like your phone? if I steal it from you, can I get into your email? ok, suppose I ask to use it for a call so you give it to me unlocked, can I do that now?

You need to take into account your security on a much more comprehensive way if you want it to be effective. One precaution and one product won't cut it.

General info security should be used before taking any woman home. Don't leave credit card statements, tax forms, 401K statements, Money Market balances, W2s, budget or income documents and so forth laying around. Bills either; no she may not know how much you make from looking at a watch repair receipt, but if it has "Omega Seamaster Watch Battery Replacement $XY.xx " in the title she might decide you're a better Beta candidate then her current guy and act accordingly.

Insofar as your computer goes, don't give her access unless it's a plan by you (an author installed a key logger on his computer to monitor his girlfriends activities and invited her to use it accordingly. He got more then he bargained for but that's OT).

Basically when taking home a plate you gotta act like she's an identity theif. She might not steal your data , but you don't want her determining how much you make by inference ,deciding covertly you're a good mark and then you get the "oops 4got birth cntrl, must tlk. Txt back plz" text.

How about getting a small 64 GB flash drive and making a portable Linux distro OS? Encrypt that as well and make sure it's 32 bit (x86) to allow portability on most computers.

Windows is great, but Linux will take some time to learn. I think it can help everyone. It help you learn about computers, protect yourself from prying eyes, and make you competent in fixing computers.

Or something like that.

If you are that paranoid, don't live with a women. Yes, set a password, Don't tell her the password. But going full drive encryption is a bit mad as it also comes with a huge penalty of speed (depending on drive and software used). Yeah makes sense to encrypt some sensitive documents but full drive encryption is over the top. 99% of women (and most men) wouldn't even know how to get the hard drive out and hook it up to another pc. I would say whats a lot more important is to have an off-site backup. Chances she will access your PC are smaller than that she will just demolish it.

if you do anything doggy, install tails on an usb stick and use that for it.

What about keyloggers? How to test if one of those has been on your computer or how to get those off? I'm always concerned if a plate or LDR wants to "borrow my computer". Thanks!!

Windows has built in "bitlocker" full drive encryption, once enabled all you need is a good Windows password, and she'll never get in. Even if a vapid bitch knows what a hard drive is and how to even access it externally, she won't be able to crack even a bottom barrel encryption.

I once trusted a FWB to be in my house without me. She logged into my email and sent (purportedly from me) nasty, abusive, deranged (and highly sexual) emails to another girl I was involved with, then deleted the sent history to try to hide what she'd done.

You also need to worry about key loggers and her putting viruses onto your PC. Don't think women won't do this, or won't get one of her orbiters to help her do it. Women have no remorse, no guilt, and a special talent for justifying some frankly mental behaviours.

Or you know... you can store important data in a place that she can't access. Like a USB stick that you lock away or a external hard drive.

And start to use tor for shit you do on the internet that some sjw or mad fuck could use against you.

Or run your important shit in a vm. I have yet to find a woman that even understands what that is. Bonus points you can carry said vm around with you on a stick.

Thanks, bro, but I've tried this stuff before. It inevitably fucks up my computer. If I was great with computers it'd probably be fine, but I'm not. Someday I'll figure it out - until then I just clear my caches every time I closed my computer and I keep everything dangerous in hotmail accounts. You can be ordered to unlock an encrypted drive, and the only way to get around this is to have a plausibly deniable hidden partition that is created with special software. Veracrypt may well be able to do this, but I'm not sure.

Idk if encrypting your drive really achieve more than just having a password on your session.

What you should however be encrypting is your smartphone, since cops are allowed to confiscated and look through it if they arrest you. They have devices to bypass your passwords but they mean nothing if the drive of your smartphone is encrypted.
