Life has changed for me since TRP and how virtually everything is seen through RP lens.

[–]DJ_RP43 points44 points45 points 11 years ago (35 children) | Copy Link

I can't listen to country music at all anymore because of this.

[–]silvertongue35 56 points57 points58 points 11 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

Country music is all "mama", suicide, drinking, and broken hearts. One big fucking pity party.

[–]NiceTryDisaster18 points19 points20 points 11 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Not only country, but in any genre I could never listen to songs about love, heart breaks, relationships, self-hate/harm/pity, helplessness etc even before I read TRP. But on TRP I have seen it being mentioned often. TRP often makes me feel like I am amongst 'my kind of people' who look at things from various perspectives and have given much thought to concepts like the society, inter-gender psychology, freedom, bodybuilding, discipline, finance etc.

There was also recently a similar thread on r/asktrp about music just about a week ago but I am not sure if I'm allowed to link it here.

Fucking this. I can't stand radio anymore, between gossip talk, useless informations and songs with lyrics such as "why you gotta be so ruuuuuuuuude, IM GONNA MARRY HER ANYWAY".

[–]Endorsed ContributorRedBigMan2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep... I used to like that song but ever since someone pointed out in this sub that it's basically the reason her dad is saying no is he probably realizes the quality of man his daughter is dating.

If a woman is worth asking her father for his blessing then you'd be the rude one by ignoring his wishes.

[–]2johnnight1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm rooting for the old guy. I wish he came out with a shotgun on that punk.

[–]kalstate18 points19 points20 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The radio is how they program us.

[–]silvertongue35 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Great comment kalstate. You could probably make a whole post about that.

[–]ObservantOmega2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And he should. Now that I think of it my acceptance of RP came after I disassociated myself from modern mass media.

[–]Johnny10toes1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Baby Mama - Three Six Mafia is the deepest red pill song ever to red pill.

[–]1oldredder0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I get my music from live bands and youtube. I don't need radio. It's filled with crap. Some old songs I like are on but I have them on mp3 and my radio is an mp3 player.

[–]mryddlin4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The 40's and 50's have some good music that acknowledges RP concepts. A lot more songs about women fucking up the relationship, unlike kow where its almost always the dudes fault.

Same with 70's Motown, its all about 'I love you baby, but you a crazy bitch'

[–]Livnontheedge1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Iirc, Amy Whinehouse has some pretty red pill songs.

[–]mryddlin0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes totally correct, shit that explains why I love her music.

Love is Blind is all about her hypergamy and trying to rationalize it.

Good call.

[–]NiceTryDisaster-4 points-3 points-2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I still listen to rap, hard rock and electronic occasionally but I am trying to decrease that as well. I feel music is like porn, to a certain extent. Terrible genres like pop, country etc are plain bad but even the better genres like rap and hard rock, although RP to a huge extent, are still bad. It makes you feel like you're the rapper or you're the rock star doing all those awesome things, feeling all those awesome feeling they feel but in reality you're just sitting like a brick with headphones plugged into your ears while browsing reddit and chatting with people.

Here is a good post titled "Avoid non-sexual porn. It's all around you" that I read on GetDisciplined

Have you ever cried during a movie or videogame? Maybe it was a book, or a song. Maybe you didn't cry. Maybe you got angry, or really happy, or felt pumped up. Sometimes you hear a song where the singer is bragging about their success and you almost feel like you're the one singing it, like you're on stage in front of a crowd. And then you turn on the sink and brush your teeth. I've decided to describe this sort of content as porn. Now, I know this isn't a unique thing. Plenty of people use porn inappropriately. Rage porn. Gore porn. Earth porn?. Yes, Earth porn. And I'll admit, it is a little unfair. The word "porn" has a negative connotation in our culture. Using it to describe something immediately implies that that thing is bad, seedy, maybe even fetishistic. And yes, that is what I'm implying.

What I'm implying it about is the pointless content we suck up all the time. The articles we read and documentaries we watch, designed to get us pissed off. The blog posts and autobiographies we read, designed to make us feel like winners. The love songs we hear and poems we read, designed to make us feel heartbroken. They're all quite bad for you, or at least in the doses you're consuming them. And if you want to get control over your life, you need to stop. Why are they bad?

Because they allow you to experience certain important aspects of life by proxy. Look at straight up pornography. It's not about observing two people having sex. It's about imagining what it's like to be one of the people having the sex. You want to be with an attractive and ravenous person right now, but you can't, so you watch someone else do it. And you enjoy not how good the sex is, but how good the sex must be.

I cannot stress that part enough. It's the sex by proxy that you love so much. And non-sex porn is the same. You read a feel-good story about a guy who climbs his way up from being homeless to being a millionaire, and you enjoy it because you want to feel like that. You want to feel that "I DID IT!!" moment. Like with sex-porn, you're focused on how good it must feel to be successful, because right now you can't experience how good it actually is to be successful.

That's dangerous. The urge to have sex at times when you cannot is very important. It makes you do things like buy new clothes, shave, take showers, and get haircuts. It makes you wonder what that other person thinks of you when you walk in the room. If that urge for sex was satisfied every time it came up, your participation in the mindless human mating dance would end, and so would your chances of real sex. Oops. Too much sex by proxy reduces real sex.

The same happens with success. You keep watching goddamn episodes of Shark Tank and reading the Steve Jobs biography and seeing blog posts about successful people being successful, and that scratches your itch every time you think "I'm so fucking tired of the way my life is right now." Your "I'm gonna do something about this!!!!" urge goes away, because it's satisfied by a blog post by Tim Ferriss about a guy who made a million dollars selling ear plugs (I'm only kinda kidding).

The author then goes on to talk about moderation and how everything is okay in moderation. But that's where I disagree with him.

Hence, I'm trying to get rid of listening music out of my life as much as possible. It's hard considering I was a wanna-be guitarist/rockstar and a music addict in the past but I'm trying.

[–]mryddlin-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good post, thanks for the excerpt

Id agree with him too, I cut out any videos games I can't pause and walk away from . otherwise they go from a hobby to a chain, moderation is fine as long as your not addicted to it.

Music sounds like for you what online gaming was for me. I dumped it years ago when I realized it was just a time burner and excuse to not move forward.

[–]1oldredder1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yup. When I was younger I got into a lot of alt-rock grunge stuff but now if any of them have the blue-pill pity-party emo nonsense I'm done with it, won't listen again. The rest have a good sound I like but I don't want a pity party.

[–]krabmonster1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yall need to listen to trap music and soul music

[–]herewehoagain 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Just like the Republican party.

Sorry, had to do it. Bring on the down votes.

[–]silvertongue35 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

And the Democrat party. Both suck and they are basically working a shared agenda, they just disagree on how to enact it.

[–]xray777 12 points12 points12 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

They only appear to disagree.

[–]unassumingusername70 points1 point2 points 11 years ago [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

But it's one hell of a show!

[–]instantdance1 point 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

That's not even a remotely accurate description of country music. Country music is extremely varied and diverse, just like any major musical genre, and is just as often about the best parts of life as it is about the worst.

It's distinguishing quality is that it sings simply about all aspects of life.

[–]Saiserit2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I never understood why I only liked rock and roll.

[–]rpreader2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I was that way with jazz. I fucking love jazz but pretty much all jazz songs are about love. Still fucking love it.

I thought "what kind of saps perform this" when I realized what total alphas all the jazz greats of the 60's and 70's were. Even my jazz teacher from high school was a total womanizing dgaf person all his life.

[–]1oldredder2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

play to the audience. The women eat it up, then the women suck the dicks of the jazz band members.

[–]1oldredder1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Couldn't listen to it ever because of this. Right from the core it felt wrong.

I was starting to drift away from country anyway. It is just rebranded pop music. I really enjoyed the 90's and early 00's country though

[–]sushisection0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh man switch to Hip Hop. So much red pill truths in that genre

[–]laere2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can't even watch shows I used to enjoy anymore (guess that's a good thing) because of this reason.

Watched Sex Ed, Haley Joel Osman's new movie, where a virgin teaches kids about sex. Cringed throughout the entire movie.

[–]2cold2hold2hot2handl1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

everything is seen through RP lens.

Or you are just seeing things for how they have always been!

[–]TheJessee 33 points33 points33 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

This shouldn't surprise you, script writers are basically inherent psychologists, just look at women crying over a movie even when they know it's fake, these script writers and actors really know how to replicate real life emotions, feelings, human behavior so well in a movie, subconsciously you will probably have always known these things, you just couldn't name them, the fact you can identify these situations is great because that does give you an edge in life

[–]silvertongue35 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

It's basically reaffirmation when you identify and see these situations.

[–]1oldredder1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's actually where another subreddit, feelingsbeforelogic, comes in, you should learn to be the scriptwriter so you can in effect not be forced to endure the feelz but you get all the benefits of it (sex instead of movie ticket income) by making the women get the feelz.

[–]derkonigistnackt 17 points17 points17 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I applaud you for going through those two shitty movies till the end. I couldnt go through more than half an hour of the wedding ringer, but i did watch the otherone and it has a pretty lame happy ending in which Jacob develops onitis over a girl with no tits and no ass and stops being a player.

[–]silvertongue35 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

God, yes. TWR was not really that good, but I did like CSL. I agree with you totally on the ending. It's typical Hollywood though.

He did manage to do some red pill stuff, but he wasn't all the way there for sure. He was in the anger and denial phase, but he made his way towards acceptance before slipping back to denial at the end.

[–]juliusstreicher7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I really liked CSL, because of Steve Carrell. I am amazed, tho, that he took his whore wife back.

[–]silvertongue35 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even aspiring alphas are capable of going back to their blue pill mindset.

But yes, Carrell was great in the movie.

kaley cuoco is one of those weird actresses who everyone thinks is super hot who is not actually that super hot

[–]EnterPseudonym 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

It's not because she is super hot, it's because of some idealized person that they've made of her, and because she's famous and her SMV is extremely high. You would have to have extremely high SMV yourself to bang her. It's not a fantasy of banging this girl, it's a fantasy of having a high enough SMV to bang the girl.

[–]1oldredder2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

could be. I've banged girls hotter than her. I'd be happy banging her if she didn't do the bitch-things women usually do that turns me off.

[–]1oldredder2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Meh. I've seen her leaked pics in the Fappening photoset, I'd still give her a 7 to 7.5. It's only her face that brings her down from 8 but she's hot enough I'd be happy fucking her on the regular.

[–]deville055 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Welk you forgot to mention that when cal is gaming the teacher he gives his responses in a very nervous rehearsed way. He is not listening or waiting for a pause. He is blurting out his lines that he believes he has to say. Its plastic, he does not do it confidently and looks like he is trying too hard. There is no context to what he says and he doesnt recalibrate based on her responses There is no frame to begin with and thats why the teacher walks away. This the only time recalibrates (out of desperation and fear) and ends up telling her the truth. But it works for him ciz its a movie.

I liked this movie mostly except for the speach part in the end. Jacob never drops frame even if he falls in love. I see him as one of the older trp members who after years of screwing around want a relationship and want to settle down. Thats not the same as being beta or getting oneitis. There was nothing in the movie to suggest that he treats her like a princess or the relationship is one sided and that he has dropped frame n become beta bucks. There is nothing to suggest that she has more power in the relationship or that he wouldnt walk away if she turned into a bitch

[–]serious_bs2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In The Wedding Ringer, the best man asks the groom: why do you want to marry her?

That thought helps me with my oneitis/ex!

[–]silvertongue35 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is IMO a question that everyone should frequently ask themselves about their SO.

Everything pretty much has a point of diminishing returns.

[–]NiceTryDisaster2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I wanted to make a similar thread about another such movie, which I used to really like at one moment of time btw, but now hate due to its absurdity. Thanks to the RP lens, I can now call out the bullshit. This movie was playing at the gym and I glanced at it between sets. I had seen it a couple of times before, but this time I understood it through RP lens.

Pretty Women Almost everyone by now has seen this movie by now with Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in it. Richard Gere is a goodlooking multi-million dollar businessman who drives poorly, gets lost and ends up in a red-light district. Julia roberts is a cheap hooker, who drives him to his hotel and agrees to sleep with him for the night for $300.

As expected, he starts liking her, lets her stay in his costly hotel, buys her costly designer clothes, gives her a makeover, takes her to dinners, changes/loses focus over his business plan, takes her to operas, polo match, meets with fellow wealthy people etc and voila falls in love with her and so does she.

However, this is where shit goes crazy. She decides she doesnt want to continue being his whore/stay with him anymore and wishes to continue her education. And the movie ends with Gere missing his flight to woo Julia roberts with a bouquet of roses clutched between his teeth as he climbs a fire escape despite having fear of heights. And ta da! there you have a true love's kiss. The end.

I felt so angry when I realized I used to like something like this at one point of time and what bullshit notion of love the media around you feeds you. I wish I could go back in time and punch myself in face.

[–]deville051 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Yeah.. She just wanted a white knight to xome save her from her problems. Tjis is not feminist though.. This is part of the patriarchal brainwashing that tell women they need obe as much as it tells men they need to be one too.

Man you wanna watcg someyhing really blue pill... Try watching friends s01. I thought it was funny when i was a kid.. I thought i woukd watch it all again. Its been 10-15 years after all.. I couldnt do it... Couldnt even watch the first season without being disgusted

[–]NiceTryDisaster4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I never found Friends or The Big Bang Theory even remotely funny, even though other people loved both back then.

And she's portrayed as caring, not cheating, not trying to hypergamize herself up a notch. Unrealistic. A nice little fantasy. TV is all about fantasy.

Some guys like to see laser-guns and aliens (got myself ep 1 of s3 of Defiance!), some guys like to see hot women not act like whores or cheat who normally would, and so on. Fantasy.

[–]fruguy2 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

But Sheldon is funny as fuck.

[–]KingoftheAssholes3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Talk about examples of what not to do. Out of both shows the only characters worth watching are joey and Phobe. Phobe because she atleast mantiains a feminine image and joey because he's a chad thundercock.

[–]1oldredder1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow. I'm old enough I could have seen that movie when it was brand new and I never saw it ever.

[–]loin_fruit2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Thanks to The Silver Linings Playbook, I crossed off getting my dick sucked in a movie theatre.

Sappy romantic comedy, but it did the trick.

[–]silvertongue35 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I actually really liked that movie on a personal level. I can see why it got you some action.

[–]loin_fruit2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I thought it was a lot better than expected. I also would like to thank the lack of people that were in the theatre. Only one couple was there.

[–]saraburzy2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

This moment has happened to me a number of times, but most notably was when I was waiting near the dressing rooms for a friend to try on some clothes. During that time I was unable to hear anything but the ludicrousness of the song playing overhead. Half nonplussed and half-intrigued, I pulled out my phone just to Shazam the song so I could make sure I heard all of the lyrics right.

The song, for anyone curious, is entitled 'Could Be Me' by MKTO. This was the first time I genuinely thought to myself how prevalent 'beta thinking' is and how many men deprive themselves of personal growth, strength, and happiness (and feeling both confident and secure in doing so) just for the chance of impressing a girl.

The saddest part for me is knowing that men will cater to what society falsely sells just to, for the entirety of their lives, feel like a failure as a man not because they actually were, but because society both encourages, and almost makes it imperative, to be anything but. This, however, isn't a wall that can't be overcome, it's just another reason to feel more accomplished when you become an autonomous, self-sufficient, happy, successful person - whatever that means to you.

It's shameful that being the best possible version of yourself is socially unwelcome because it makes you better than others in various disciplines, but putting in blood, sweat, and tears isn't an unfair advantage and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

[–]silvertongue35 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You are right. Being the best version of yourself requires a lot of sacrifice and discipline.

Think about this. Why are there people so willing to step on and step over people on their way to the top?

Because they know that people tend to want other people to be at their level rather than be superior to them. That is why you see stories here that get posted where the poster has someone or several someones that try to discourage them from bettering themselves for whatever reason.

For example... lifting. Fat asses do not want to see their formerly fat friends getting jacked and losing weight while they are stuck in neutral or park.

Fuck them.

With regard to your last point, most people would be surprised how prevalent that type of thinking is even when people are actively working towards a fitness goal themselves. To many, it doesn't matter that they are doing something for themselves, it matters that they are noticed for improving themselves (see: girls on Facebook in workout gear and messy bun selfies after working out for two days) or that they are looking better than their workout partners (see: people who complain, "HOW DO YOU LOOK SO GOOD WHEN WE WORK OUT TOGETHER?!" when only one truly adheres to clean eating.)

I dislike running groups or running with other women in general because the focus is almost always on progress in comparison to someone else in the group rather than doing for the sake of itself and becoming the best possible version of yourself.

Watch Liar Liar sometime.

Hidden behind the socially acceptable reform/redemption tripe, is the nasty lesson that you can be a great guy, but if you are boring, you will get tossed aside the moment someone more exciting becomes available.

Have to admit, I really liked Crazy, Stupid Love, partly because Emma Stone, partly because the sheer good red pill advice being put to almost-realistic effect. Obviously there's a comedy component, obviously there's Hollywood in general which means the thing needs to be rushed along to fit movie-time format, but generally good.

Barney on How I Met Your Mother is the best example most people can think of. His thing is to become as awesome as possible. He has a frame for every situation because he put himself out there and tests out what works and what doesn't and this builds his character. I love it and enjoy seeing him do his work.

Barney is an all time classic character, so much red pill in him. Surprising considering the actor.

turns out gay men are men too.

I need some more acting like that. Any references you can give me?

From the rules:

"Red pill theory" posts may contain material from fiction if it is then developed beyond that example into a useful discussion of a principle, but fictional references by themselves will be removed when spotted. Fiction is not evidence. Anyone can write anything.

This post is just "this piece of fiction is TRP", and adds no other value nor evidence nor development nor underlying principles.

[–]TechnicParadox7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The purpose of the post is to point out something OP has noticed in his life using two fictional examples as evidence. The analysis he creates around the fiction is the "useful discussion" you claim the post is lacking. "Anyone can write anything" is in reference to simply posting some content found on a random site or something and saying it's RP. Not an analysis of two pieces of fiction that OP uses to express the larger point of beginning to see RP truths in his own life. He is adding value to his examples. Not just posting them on their own.

You're not a mod. I like this post. If you disagree press REPORT and the mods will decide if it's due for erasure.

I am a mod, he did hit report, and I don't see much discussion, only summary.

[–]1oldredder0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

then you're a blind mod and this subreddit is done.

Suspecting this horrifying end I avoided reading here for 2 weeks. I guess I'm done for good.

This was a solid good post and it takes a full blue pill to go the other way. Bye for good. You guys are all sucking ass and killing this subreddit.

Not to mention that OP watched a chick flick alone from beginning to end

[–]silvertongue35 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Additionally, watching chick flicks is a RP thing to do if your reason for watching them is because you want to, rather than because a chick wants you to.

You are right. Away it goes.

did you get your post's title from Marvel's Daredevil episode 3? lmao

Uhh, the phrase was actually made famous from a court ruling on obscenity.

I see red pill and blue pill behavior in everything now- whether im watching a movie or tv show, or observing a social interaction in public. This subreddit provides a great framework to view the world in- socially everything makes so much more sense once you internalize the key concepts.

I agree, there is plenty of value that can be extracted from entertainment media. It can be a useful tool, if used properly.

I mean, let's not forget that we endorse Fight Club and The Matrix for learning purposes.

Check out "Togetherness" if you want to see a truly blue pill example manifested in a relationship.

I am loving these suggestions. Definitely getting value out of this post.
