I personally think that another reason that it's considered okay for men to be portrayed as bumbling fools on television and in the cinema is the fact that men are okay with a little bit of self-deprecating humor. Men can take some jokes at their expense without it getting under their skin.

Women, on the other hand, are content with nothing less than a sparkling veneer that is presented to the public, thereby confirming their supposed superiority to men, and the pedestal gets higher and higher and betas think less and less of their gender..

most men are too busy at his job, providing for his family to get offended by petty jokes. a 23 year old art student living on campus on daddy's money, that leaves plenty of time and energy to be oppressed. personally i think they should channel that energy at the gym!

[–]The_Psychopath5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Real men have armor around their souls, they know not to let bullshit get to them. Women are exposed raw nerves, they can't help but to react.

It's a courtesy used out of respect for minorities that have been systematically raped throughout history. Men can take a joke because they are in the dominant position.

[–]General_Fear15 points16 points17 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Tell me about it.

Look at the women of the View and the audience laugh about male dismemberment.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muuFygvXPAM

What do you think if a bunch men laughing about a women cutting of a woman's breast.

They try to walk it but that is only because the camera was rolling. Imagine what women say and think when no men are watching. Remember, the audience was laughing their ass off.

I think more importantly is why would you give 2 flying fucks about what anyone on the view has to say. A major issue I have is that the minority of women that represent feminism are the loudest and the dumbest, just like Christians, Muslims, atheists, politicians and the list goes on.

My fiancè is a pretty staunch feminist and we butt heads about stuff sometimes, but as a male in the relationship it is my job to be tougher, cool headed and patient. We both support each other and there are a lot of women who are feminists but also at the same time don't kick and scream about it, they understand gender roles but want to iron out some important flaws in society which dont protect women.

If you have ever seen actual domestic violence cases ( I was a paramedic for a while) you begin to understand that if either party abuses their gender role, eg a man uses his strength to hit a woman or a woman does not respect a man and constantly belittles him sometimes to the point of violence you begin to see that there is need for protection in the system for both genders.

Men should look out for men's interests and women should look out for theirs as well, feminism is required to create that balance as long as it isn't extremist feminism. We don't want men to be effeminate and we don't want women to be masculine, it over complicates already complex issues such as gender roles, sexuality and gender itself

Yes!!! Extreme feminism demonizes what is traditionally seen as feminine and it's so sad. It's now looked down upon by young people to want to be an ideal housewife. With all this talk about allowing women to choose their own paths, you have to let some people choose to stick to tradition. As long as it's not harming another person, it should be fine. Now it's almost a point of pride that young women can't cook, sew, dress themselves, don't wear makeup or dresses, etc etc. We are demonizing the traditionally feminine and that is as harmful as blatant misogyny.

Also, the radfems are the ones who have no concern for legitimate men's issues. It's a problem when men are taken to the cleaners in divorces they didn't want ("then get a pre-nup" is what some say...victim blaming, much?) and people assume they are pedophiles for liking kids. The fact that male teachers have to constantly be on edge for stupid teen girls crying wolf/rape (often because the teacher WON'T give them the attention they want and turn them down, or when it's completely fabricated and they haven't even spoken to the teacher) is sickening, and it hurts the real victims of rape on top of it all!

Thanks for understanding and keeping an open mind. You are obviously in control of yourself and it's awesome.

To conclude: misandry is everywhere, culturally acceptable, even normative, largely invisible, taught directly and indirectly by men and women, blind to reality, very damaging and dangerous to men and women in different ways and de-humanizing. This post is to help make it visible and to deal with it - as we have dealt with, or tried to deal with, misogyny, racism and homophobia.

This sounds awfully familiar to, I dunno, hmm... "rape culture". Except this is true.

[–]CropDuster3312 points13 points14 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is why men can bust each others balls without holding a grudge or hating each other. We possess humility.

[–]doubleu3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep, butthurt betas are the worst at dealing with bro ball busting...

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]ibuprofiend15 points16 points17 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even this author starts out by claiming that misandry is men's fault, the necessary reaction to misogyny. He also says the TV show "Dr. Phil" is an example of high culture hahaha.

The disconnect between misogyny and misandry is because men and women are so fundamentally different... it's just another thing that proves TRP thinking about the genders.

On the one hand, we men are supposed to ignore hardship and power through it, we don't even think about showing weakness by blaming our problems on "society." Accordingly, you never hear a guy cry "Misandry!", even if he is being legitimately discriminated against.

Women however, are biologically programmed to rely on others, so they naturally blame "society" for anything bad that happens to them. They publicize misogyny until they attain the weak victim status they crave, then wait for the provider men to come help them. Bring on the unfair divorce laws, workplace discrimination, rape kangaroo courts, etc.

So the popularity of the concept of misogyny is because women are fundamentally different from men, and generally different in a bad way. I love it when feminism disproves itself.

[–]1Mikesapien3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Good article, but there's no way in hell Trailer Park Boys is "sexist" because it depicts males in a negative way. It's an ad-lib comedy made primarily by men for a primarily male audience about career criminals in Nova Scotia. Quit thinking like a feminist.

TPB is some of the funniest shit not on TV.

[–]OneKnightsStand[S] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i didn't catch that. Interesting.

[–]werunthisworld1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would say that real men just accept the bs for what it is. At least that's my take.

[–]Chelsor3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You guys spend far too much time and effort thinking about women's flawed perspectives and using feminist-type language. As much potential that exists here it all reads like you're one more bad experience away from full blown activist/SRS mode.

Wasn't there a time when just anyone couldn't submit something?

I should be the moderator here. Nothing but ultra high quality content and none of this nonsense feminist language. None of these nonsensical circle-jerk threads would survive beyond an hour.

You know who reads stories with pictures every few sentences? Children. Stop acting like children and up your game in every area of your life. This shit is getting sad, but I guess it's time for me to be banned or move on on my own. Unfortunate as it is, the current moderators here are allowing the shit to pile up and now everyone here has to wade through it, or worse, new people see it as just the way it is and they perpetuate this idiocy.

This sub is capable of so much more.

Here the problem with any critical theory. Its easy to find fault in anything which is why feminism exists. Feminism is a crit theory that exists to criticize everything. However actually improving on the status quo is incredibly difficult. If you want Red pill to be a better place then you should contribute content dont just sit around and complain like a crit theory fem.

[–]Mymobileacoconut0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Elimination is one of the best ways to quickly organize. Good original content will fade like a castle made of sand in the presence of poor post management. That being said, we all have our say here. Up vote or down vote.

I couldn't agree more.

So imagine my surprise when my first, and only, 3 submissions were immediately deleted because I was a "new member" or whatever the case was.

I remained subscribed, however, and was further frustrated to see that not only were other new subscribers being allowed to make thread contributions, but that these ridiculous contributions were laced with imgur links as if these people were incapable of putting forth a thought-provoking discussion without graphic aid that was rooted in lame attempts at humor. On top of that, the posts were and are full of acronyms and code words, again, tools of feminists and activists (read: people who are otherwise incapable of articulating meaningful content).

I've said since that day that this place would do itself a favor by dropping completely this method of communicating. While I always seem to have a few agree with me, the majority downvote and refer to me as a "hater," very similar to what you're doing by loosely comparing me to a critical theory feminist. Fucking absurd.

When we look at Elliot Hulse we see a man. When we hear him speak it's a reaffirmation of those manly qualities that presumably every man here hopes to learn from. Elliot Hulse does not use feminist language. He speaks like a goddamn man.

Further, it is my opinion that any group of people who use terms like, "spinning plates" and "hamstering" are people that I would avoid like the plague if I overheard them in a social setting. It's nonsense. You sound like a goddamn feminist.

A real man does not need acronyms in place of carefully articulated insight, and using these terms as a crutch is actually counter-productive to our entire purpose here: understanding why we are who we are and how to make who we are better.

If you can't elaborate on a females incessant need to justify poor decision-making without using a term like, "hamstering" you're not any closer to being an alpha motherfucker than your weak ass was when you wandered in here.

Truth be told from my few months of reading you guys quite a few of you sound like bitches that I likely wouldn't care to be around. That's fine because there is some great content here and so I wade through the nonsense. Make no mistake about it, it is nonsense.

Lastly, understand my direct language isn't an indictment on anyone in specific (maybe the way in which this sub is moderated). I'm not calling you a bitch, I'm calling this attitude and this way of moderating bitch-friendly. I will also add, again, that there is great content here and I do see potential in this subreddit or else I wouldn't be subscribed. However, quite a few of you need to open your eyes and realize that the way you talk and speak is a direct reflection of the type of person you are and the type of person you'll become (if not already).

My personal opinion is that this place needs a fucking reality check and to stop talking like feminists. I hope that I've given some insight to my frustration and that my terse language isn't so much that it hurts anyone's precious feelings.

We're fucking men. Let's act like it.

*GayLubeOil - you are absolutely one of the worst offenders of that which I'm speaking. Even your fucking name is bitch-like. How about you drop the shtick and make a manly contribution for once?

[–]Senior Contributor: "The Court Jester"GayLubeOil2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You put a lot of work into your paragraph so I guess I sort of owe it to you, to respond in an a mature intellectual way.

  • I know the feel bro. Alot of my submissions were removed. Including Women are Like Pokemon, which was by all accounts a masterpiece and a huge success. Mods gunna do what mods gunna do.

  • When a community exists for a while eventually people start using short hand for often discussed ideas. Things like trickle truth, hamstring and NAWLT are mentioned so often that it makes sense to use short hand rather than tediously re explaining shit. Yes this alienates new members, but explaining the same concepts over and over is boring.

  • On the topic of images. A lot of the posts here are very negative. There are alot of sexually frustrated teens lurking red pill. There are a lot of divorce raped older men. There are men contemplating suicide. This place can get very grim very quickly. So if I link some pictures in one of my posts its usually to lighten the tone. A lot of the men here are hurt and isolated. Red Pill is their community. Im just trying to cheer them up.

  • On Tone: Not everything has to be communicated in a mature intellectual tone. Writing that way is incredible time consuming. Not to mention that academic articles are a monotonous read. Judging from your post your half expecting Red Pill to be the male equivalent of an academic feminist journal. Not only would that make this sub boring as hell it would also discourage working class and younger men from writing about their experiences. Basically your expecting very high effort writing from people who do it for fun.

  • On my content: My content is very diverse. I have written about serious topics such as the alienation of boys in schools. I have also written less serious articles about fun ways to piss women off. I post because I enjoy posting. Locking myself into a single topic, tone or writing style would severely decrees y enjoyment of the activity.

  • On being Manly. First off my username is fucking Hilarius. Sorry you don't know the backstory. My writing probably doesn't have a huper masculine tone because my speech isnt hyper masculine. Why? Because im a hyper masculine Russia bodybuilder. Im large and imposing. I therefore don't have to try to be manly. I can be quite boyish in real life, because that makes me more approachable. Being locked into the hyper male role is incredibly boring. You become a one denominational stereotype, flat and uninteresting.

Allright that about all the effort ill put into that.

Even though I do love the methods and study of psychology in Dr. Phil, I am often annoyed about the cases he chooses. A lot of men react strangely on the stage because of the judgement of those 100's of women in the studio, but are kept back by the fact that it is national television...

[–]1Gavlan_Wheel0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There are literally hundreds of women and minorities groups ready to pounce on any media that make women or minorities look stupid. Which is why white males are typically picked to play the bumbling fool in commercials, TV shows and movies.

White males are the only group who don't have any groups representing them to send angry letters when they are portrayed badly, so studios just take the path of least resistance.

[–]skinisblackmetallic0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sounds like the folks giving out Pulitzers don't like men very much.

[–]Lerbib0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I like seeing this type of article on such a respected website, though. Feminism is coming to an end...

[–]Furinkazan616-1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's fucking disgusting, but what can we do about it?. The men's rights movement is seen as nothing more than a misogynistic joke.
