Anyone have thoughts on old school movie alphas, Kirk Douglas etc… Seems like they knew the score back then, who is your fav?

Watched a Robert Mitchum B&W earlier, long story short, pioneer farmer (William Holden) loses wife to fever, pays a white woman (Loretta Young) out of slavery to come work for him and school his kid. Says son would appreciate a female influence and needs help with chores. Marries her for the sake of her reputation.

Woman wants to bang the farmer bad but he has no interest. Instead of pouting about it she tries to win him over by bucking under round the farm, up first to milk the cows, learns how to shoot in her spare time.

Mitchum the lone hunter shows up with his guitar, immediately tries to woo her, invites himself to stay and tells her in uncertain terms he wants to bang her. Offers farmer double the cash he originally paid but he starts having second thoughts now with new social proof, and they end up having a fist fight.

Woman breaks it up and is pissed off they are bartering for her like she’s cattle (fair doos), says they can both go swivel and is leaving. Before she can dozens of Injuns turn up with flaming arrows. Woman fights side by side with new gun skills, inadvertently giving the farmer a boner in the process.

Meanwhile the kid escapes to the stockade and returns with re-inforcements to chase off the Pawnee. Epic battle has sparked new emotions, farmer and his wife kiss.

Mitchum is half ‘meh POF’ and half ‘my work here is done’. Saddles up shouting ‘Come on men those Injuns won't shoot themselves!’

Hollywood just don’t seem to have leading men like that anymore, compare ‘Bridget Jones I don't know which Beta is the baby’s father’ to that.
