You have in your mind this stereotype that women are supposedly softer and more caring than men. That was true in the past.

Now society has made men soft and has toughened women up, destroying the gender differences, basically throwing things out of equilibrium.

Men who are still driven by urges and testosterone, yet made soft, and contrarily, women who are supposed to be innately more compassionate driven into ambition and competition.

The only people who do well in this system are people who are strongly in tune with what their gender roles are supposed to be.

I rely from time to time on my aunt, who is a clinical professor of psychology. She basically saved my life and helped me deal with my mom's bipolar. She was the first person to teach me frame.

My mom used to threaten suicide all of the time to me when I was 8-22. My aunt taught me frame. Had me call my mom (her sister) up and tell her that I could no longer talk with her if she made a suicide threat to me. I was to tell her that and then if she did it, I was to say I had to go and get off the phone right away. So I did, my mom threatened suicide and I got off the phone. The next time I talked to her she tried it again. I'm 46 now and my mom passed last September. She never once threatened suicide to me again. Ever in 24 years. That, gentlemen, is frame.

Listen, we are all human. And we are going to turn to women from time to time. You can't do it with romantic prospects though. Female relatives, pretty much is all you can trust for these positions.

This is BP to the core. When you're a little kid, your mother and teachers/caregivers (who are predominantly female) do show you comfort and sympathy. It felt nice. However, you weren't in a sexual relationship with these women.

There's no faster way to dry up a vagina than looking for a second mother for comfort/security.

It's a callback to your mother. Sounds like Freud shit, but it is. Your woman is not and can never be like your mother. You can't be a fifth grader again, and you can't have your mommy again, no matter how much you want either. It's a lie you tell yourself to feel better.

If you can't picture in your mind Clint Eastwood doing it, don't fucking do it.

It's okay to show vulnerability from time to time. In fact, it will strengthen your LTR. The key is to not overdo it. Only show vulnerability and ask for help very sparingly. A woman will very quickly lose attraction for you if you frequently dump your problems on her. But a woman will of course always dump her problems on you.

I strongly disagree with the implication here that what you need is a woman's affection. Burdening a woman with that kind of weight will make her tired and resentful towards you.

By all means, one should enjoy women's affections, but NEVER make the mistake of reliance on them.

I think it depends on the situation (is it appropriate/normal to seek out comfort?) and frequency. If it's a genuinely difficult situation (e.g. death in the family, major career setback, big health issues), then it seems natural and normal to seek out some affection and comfort, especially if you're in a long-term relationship.

It also depends on how frequently you need that support--again, once in a while is probably fine and understandable, but too much is a turn-off.
