The idea is that when engaging in power talk, multiple meanings are being expressed at the same time. Being good at powertalk implies being good at understanding the subtext(s) of what someone is saying, and being able to impart subtext in your own words.

Example: A senior manager catches his CEO boss cheating on his wife. The CEO is unsure of hoiw much the manager knows and calls him into the office.

CEO: Do you know why I called you in here? (Real question, do you know I'm cheating on my wife?)

MGMT: It could be a couple of things, what's going on? (Yes I do, but I'm not going to out you.)

CEO: I just wanted to congratulate all of your hard work recently. I am granting you a 3% bonus as a reward. Keep it up. (I am willing to reward you for your silence)

MGMT: I'm glad that you recognize my extra effort. Thanks for the opportunities. (I am willing to be silent for reward)

CEO: Don't mention it. (Can be applied to either conversation.)

I would not worry to much about power talk. It is how certain segments of the population talk to members of the same segment, however unless you're talking to that specific segment the other segments won't know.

Really, I think I would want to avoid sticking my dick in women who are part of the segment that use power talk. But that is your choice.
