The key to communication is that your idea is effectively transferred to another person's consciousness. If someone says "Me and my LTR had a baby" is there really that much confusion about what that statement means? If I say I have a girlfriend, does that mean I'm in a platonic relationship with a minor?
Pedantic rants over the proper use of LTR, etc don't add much to the overall TRP discussion. Wait. . . Should I have said TRP or RP discussion? Does it really matter?

LTR could be your girlfriend, your wife, your long term relationship that isn't specifically otherwise defined and you only wish to convey that it's long term because that's what matters for the purpose of your post.

EDIT:
Define LTR first First Define LTR for yourself
I've seen guys here who think a girl they have been seeing after school for 2 months is an LTR.
To me, anything shorter than 2 years is not an LTR. And it's not exactly an LTR if you aren't eating, sleeping and shitting in the same house most of the time.
But that's my definition, yours can be different.
tl,dr: TRP is not a science, so don't concern troll. We have bigger problems than a slight misuse of terms.

I've always taken LTR to be less about the length of the relationship but more about the commitment and exclusivity of the relationship. It's called Long because while in them people expect them to be long, are taking them seriously, etc.

Exactly.
I should have written "Define LTR for yourself" because that's the whole point - by naming it an LTR you're expressing your mindset and level of commitment to the girl.

Tell me the difference between having an LTR and having a GF.
[–]rurpe1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Objectively, nothing
Subjectively, the amount of time. I don't consider a one month relationship to be a "LTR" but some of the guys on here do.
I think the LTR mindset can be toxic for young men who think they are "set" because a woman has stuck around for a few weeks\months.

In this context, there isn't a difference. But a LTR is a relationship between two human beings and a girlfriend is a human being.

This is pointless semantics. Go focus on something worthwhile and save the nitpicks for the nuances of the theory itself.

There tends to be an inverse relationship between post quality and trp lingo usage. Many people use it to fake authority on issues, not realizing it's misapplication - it's lazy shorthand, not the badge of the 'in-club'.

Getting annoyed by things out of your control isn't a good sign.
[–]ModRedSovereign[M] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is concern trolling and strictly against the rules.

Well, some guys here think "we've been together for 3 months, so this is my LTR"... type of crap.
I guess it's subjective, as the use of "Long Term" could be 3 months for one guy, and 3 years for another... and then a third guy would think that if it isn't a decade it's not long term.
My only guess would be that guys that are not all that well versed, and are posting are using LTR as a short hand for "girl with LTR potential", or "my only romantic interest", etc., instead of the literal use of "Long Term Relationship".

It is possible for one to be in an LTR having only been official" for a week. The idea is that the people in the relationship consider it a long term relationship. The level of commitment and expected duration are bigger factors than actual time spent when defining an LTR.

Well, while I agree that it's up to the people involved... any LTR is a long term relationship right up to the point that it isn't.

The more annoying thing for me is that beta behavior does not constitute "blue pill". BB is definitely part of the female imperative and how she makes branch swinging choices. Blue pill is believing the feminist nonsense about what women want and how they behave.

Shitpost. Language is defined by its users. Also LTR is fine as a verb or to describe a girl who isn't just another plate.
[–]Moldy_Gecko0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think you are the only one. This just sounds like you wanted to make a "Look at me" post.
[–]Senior EndorsedMattyAnon0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Am I the only one who is annoyed by this?
Yes, you are.
LTR is fine, as opposed to FWB or MLTR or OLTR. "Girlfriend" is too ambiguous.
