Background: Was a mal-adjusted kid in school, carried on to my life and workplace. Been reading the pill for a year, but worried that my cringe worthy pathetic beta attributes were why people disliked me.

It was a few weeks ago that I noticed a few people in my workplace didn't like me. I obsessed over it, and I wondered what was wrong with myself and why I didn't notice it earlier. Eventually I decided to talk to a friend within my workplace that I confided and trusted in.

Me: "Hey xxxx, I noticed some people giving me the cold shoulder, what's up with that?"

xxxx: "Well, some people don't like you here because of the way you act or speak. It seems that you're too adamant about things and you sometimes insult people."

That statement felt like a stab to the gut for me as I tried hard to be friendly and likeable to most people. I could not fathom that other people gasp can dislike me. Moving on, I decided then to focus efforts on not offending other colleagues and being nicer to my peers.

Fast forward to two weeks ahead, and I had a talk with another mate over dinner. I told him that this same issue troubled me greatly, and asked for advice on how to 'be more likeable'. Socialisation has never been my strong suit.

"You can't make everyone like you, and that's the way things are. People don't like you because you're sometimes living in your own world and inconsiderate of others. Your line of thinking and taking charge of things is Alpha, and they don't like that. Just don't notice those who dislike you, and care about those who like you."

I thought to myself, "Wait a minute, people don't like my because I have a strong opinion?" I was a little disappointed in myself, but at that moment I felt a deep sense of immense satisfaction, pride and accomplishment at the work 'Alpha'. I really need to work on important social aspects such as proper consideration for others and social awareness, but to hear from him the word 'Alpha', was a positive affirmation of the work that I put into myself over the course of a year. From a disgusting fat pathetic beta person (these were my traits, not a description of betas) to a skinny-fat person that is semi successful at working towards character/personality development.

"Perhaps I have managed to put my past behind me, and people dislike me now not because I was pathetic or a nuisance (pre trp), but because I stood firm and wasn't afraid of conflict in my day to day activities (post trp discovery)."

It finally clicked in me that I had the wrong impression of myself all along. I was misguided in some occasions, called power hungry by another co-worker, and even knuckle headed in other situations. BUT I AM ON THE RIGHT TRACK. I cannot thank you enough TRP, for helping put my life back on the right path.

Lessons learnt: Work hard, and the results will follow. Just make sure that you're on the right track.
