Cripes. Nowhere does the phrase "moderate consumption" appear in your post.
I drink one latte a day, and have a glass of beer or wine at night. I don't intend to quit coffee or booze, because enjoyment. People should try doing things in a moderate manner, and you may discover that, yeah, you can really enjoy potential poisons without harmful impact, but only if you moderate consumption. Same goes for exercise, work, leisure, etc.: do some, but not too much.
[–]I_VII_VI_VI_VII_I points points points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I totally agree. I don't not drink. But I drink only on occasions. Once every 2-3 weeks. With coffee, however, I don't see a benefit to this. Some might. But when you're having a latte a day, you're likely addicted to the caffeine.
[–]Omnibrad7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
By that logic I'm also addicted to taking showers, clothing myself, and going to sleep. You'll have to forgive me if I don't see your point.
[–]4303troy5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I don't necessarily agree with OP but the correlation you've just made is absurd. You've named three necessities of life and are comparing them to coffee consumption. Coffee is not a necessity.
[–]Omnibrad-2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
The only logic presented was:
But when you're having a latte a day
His logic made no mention of how necessary anything was. It only said "if you're doing it once a day".
[–]4303troy0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I believe he was attempting to point out that caffeine is an addictive drug (which I'm sure both of us can agree on), and that if you consume any addictive substance on a daily basis you are likely to develop an addiction.
Showering, clothing yourself, and sleeping are not addictive drugs they are simply requirements for everyday life.
Youve connected dots that are not correlated is my point.
[–]Omnibrad0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You didn't have a problem when the OP connected dots between the "addictive" drug caffeine and addictive drugs like nicotine.
Is caffeine an addictive drug? You might find some disagreement among the medical community on that one.
But go ahead and keep thinking what you're thinking.
[–]4303troy0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe because both nicotine and caffeine are addictive substances? Maybe not to the same degree but both have addictive qualities nonetheless.
Regardless of whether or not there is disagreement among the medical community, there are still a number of sources that claim caffeine has addictive properties. And as someone that has consumed caffeine regularly for the last ten years, I can certainly corroborate that assertion.
"If you stop taking caffeine abruptly, you may have symptoms for a day or more, especially if you consume two or more cups of coffee a day. Symptoms of withdrawal from caffeine include:
headache fatigue anxiety irritability depressed mood difficulty concentrating No doubt, caffeine withdrawal can make for a few bad days."
This was quoted directly from WebMD
And thanks for your permission to allow me to continue to hold my opinion :)
[–]Platos_slow_brother0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If I don't drink that morning latte, I may have a noticeable headache in the evening, for about an hour, or not.
If that is addiction, I can live with it, because I enjoy the latte.

riiiight. you are more alpha than all of the athletes that use caffeine on a daily basis. what a badass. women are going to flock to you when you tell them you are too good for coffee and they are just addict losers. people love unfun losers that criticize everything and think stopping jerking or drinking caffeine gives them magic powers.
Are you not entertained, Jamal? I didn't say I was any more alpha than anybody. But I couldn't give a shit less whether I'm more alpha than the pro athletes you idolize. You'll grow up one day. Just remember you can't be alpha while collecting welfare either.
[–]Newreddawn2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Collecting welfare? Why bother making a post if you're going to hunt down and insult everyone who disagrees with you. The only thing I learned from this post and your responses is that you're an immature clown pretending to be the real deal.
[–]SovereignSoul7610 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is idiotic. I like the coffee, and there are some actual proven benefits to drinking it. So...fuck off.
[–]k1ndbud4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I recommend a replacement - vitamin B12 supplement taken daily in the morning. I no longer need coffee to make it through a work day and overall energy is greatly improved.
[–]fstrizzy0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Better take that b vitamin after you've eaten something. From my experience taking a b vitamin on an empty stomach causes immediate vomiting.
[–]RetiredTimeHo4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Shut the fuck up you idiot.
[–]bossplayaintraining2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I was never really a coffee drinker; thanks for the PSA to the rest of these RP'ers.
But from what I've seen from my friends, once you start drinking coffee regularly, you never shake it because you become used to a lifestyle that requires you to drink coffee to stay awake.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Better just stop enjoying everything altogether, just in case everything might be beta.
[–]DavidTIntellectual3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
enough coffee mimics - incredibly closely - the effects of cocaine.
No it doesn't. I'm guessing what you've been told is cocaine was actually amphetamines or ephedrine or something.
[–]abdada2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Coffee has been my last lingering obsession. I've cut back from about 60 ounces a day down to 8 ounces in two half sized servings.
Something interesting I found is that coffee doesn't exactly wake you up, it's your body making you sleepier without it.
I moved my first half cup back to 10:30am or so (varies a bit) and find myself much more awake.
For me now coffee is just caffeine for reducing stubborn fat during the last 2 hours of my daily fast right as I head out to take a walk. Half of the EC stack, if you would, without the E. I think I will probably just use coffee during cuts and avoid it entirely during bulks.
I want to dump the afternoon half cup but still haven't gotten to that point. 9 months of work, still working at it.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It can be incredibly tough if you've been drinking it for a while. Especially in amounts like 60 ounces/day. Even 8 ounces a day is hard though. I find it gets tougher as you get closer to elimination. I drank half cups of decaf forever. It's a mental thing. I've never been so alert, awake, and happy in my adult life though. I never fully realized just how addictive that shit is.
[–]Fuknmods4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This isn't going to be popular, but I've recently placed coffee-drinking right up on the same shelf as alcoholism, pot-smoking, benzo addiction, etc. And it belongs there.
Then you're retarded.
Caffeine addiction is a western epidemic and its legality grants it an acceptable place in our society.
So coffee-drinking = caffeine addiction? Flawed logic right off the bat.
Law is Daddy Government: submission and leftism.
Im sure you drive drunk and commit murder all the time like the real alpha anti government rebel you are.
Coffee is nothing more or less than liquid cocaine. By measure, it's a weak stimulant. Cocaine is a strong stimulant. But enough coffee mimics - incredibly closely - the effects of cocaine.
And the amount of people who drink that much coffee are minimal. Do tell me how 1% of over users should ruin it for the rest.
After the initial 5 days of consumption, you no longer get a boost from coffee consumption. What you get is alleviation of the withdrawal you're experiencing from the day before.
So coffee is always and only had for a boost? No one can enjoy it for the taste or social aspect of it? No movies either then, thats beta fantasy. No fun either, you could be making money instead like a proper wage slave.
Quitting coffee is hard.
Lmfao no its not. Ive had coffee for over a decade, at times daily and at other times I'll go months without it, no craving and no jitters.
Because you're a drug addict.
You're a pussy addict, no sex for you or youre a beta addict.
After two weeks, however, you will be a new person. You will sleep better, you will hardly feel the effects of stress, and you will think more clearly.
Yeah I'm so sure the vets in a warzone have near zero stress because they gave up coffee. Im convinced.
Debt and Addiction are both slavery. Cut both (in all forms) out of your life and supreme happiness will find you.
People who sell happiness have no idea what that is at all, if they did everyone would be happy and thats not the case. Live life how you want, go be a fag somewhere else.
But this isn't flawed logic.
Eloquent
I don't believe you. Lmfao? How'd your Algebra test go?
I'm not selling happiness, I'm giving advice and stating opinion. You don't seem very happy, but rather pretty angry. Cuckface.
[–]Fuknmods0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Coffee drinking encompases moderate use or even rare use like once a month. Making thie equivalent to addiction is flawed.
Not an argument
I don't believe you. Lmfao
Yeah you're right. I mean just look at all those coffee junkies out on the streets who cut all family ties and lost everything they own just dying to get their fix of coffee... oh wait thats mostly hard drugs like heroin and crack... nice denial of reality.
I'm not selling happiness, I'm giving advice and stating opinion.
No shit youre not literally selling happiness. Nice sjw word game. You claimed no debt and addiction = happiness yet plenty of people are happy indulging addictions. Churchill was quite the functioning alcoholic, pretty sure he was happy with his very successful life and legacy.
You don't seem very happy, but rather pretty angry. Cuckface.
Oh of course, typical projection, "I'm not angry you are!" No one ever says mean things online for the sake of being mean or because its fun. Project some more.
[–]ChicagoReds1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Comparing coffee addiction to "alcoholism" and benzo addiction in your opening sentence says it all, you didn't do a thorough job researching this, as that's a terrible analogy. There have been dozens and dozens of studies that show drinking coffee does not effect mortality risk and in fact likely improves it.
Jesus fucking christ. Coffee helps people in regards to staying awake, being able to perform and can actually help with workouts in the morning or whenever. Stupid post. I drink one cup of coffee a day and I am just fine.
[–]gordonv0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I do understand what you're saying with coffee. I think the majority of people don't have that kind of effect with coffee. I have felt kind of that way with coffee before. I was able to simply stop though.
Good for you.
Just because it was hard for you, doesn't mean I drop it often, and have no withdrawl symptoms
[–]blackedoutfast0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
stop being retarded with all this gay stoicism bullshit. coffee has a lot of health benefits and it isn't comparable at all to cocaine or any other hard drug in terms of effects or addictive potential.
the way that most people fuck up is by drinking latte frappucino bullshit drinks that are mostly whipped cream or drinking coffee with tons of milk and sugar. drink it black
[–]mconnergibson0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you really believe the effects of coffee mimic the effects of cocaine that closely then either I'm drinking really bad coffee or you've been doing really bad cocaine.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Lmao smoking weed beta? So every guy in Canada is beta huh.
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
and every rappers, athlete, actor that is provably more alpha than this faggot OP. he quit caffeine because he is trying to fill a personal void and his post is a projection attempting to get validation for his decision.
Oh Jamal. Keep idolizing rappers, athletes, and actors.
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
better than looking up to a recovering beta neckbeard.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yeah seriously. The rappers, athletes and actors that OP insults basically make more in one year, than many people (including myself) will make in their entire life.
I drink a coffee everyday because I like the taste and it gives you more energy. Weed is nice to use moderately.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah energy drinks should be avoided because they are even less healthy than soda but coffee and tea are just herbs...with shitloads of antioxidants too. Light cannabis use can be beneficial but most young people overdo it to the extreme and end up wasting their time and money.
Exactly. I make my own cold brew coffee and drink it black. zero calories and has a bunch of benefits. Cannabis use is good for many things like stress, depression, sleep, people who have some sickness that cause them to lose a lot of weight and other things. Both are way safer than alcohol, which I do like, but has actually killed people
[–]Eastuss0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Ah, never wanted to drink that shit.
When gf was pregnant, she stopped drinking coffee, and smoking. "Weirdly" her mood was stabler and she was less depressed overall. And she was drinking 10 cup of that shit everyday.
At least this is good for headache.
10 cups is bad. 1 cup is fine.
[–]RetiredTimeHo0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And she was drinking 10 cup of that shit everyday.
No shit. Do you think there's a difference between someone who has 1 glass of wine before bed every night and someone who needs to drink 10 glasses?
Holy fuck where did the logic and critical thinking go? Using something doesn't mean you're abusing it.
[–]Eastuss0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
where the fuck do you see me saying 1 cup is wrong?
[–]mastprop0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
stfu and do wat u want u beta cuck
[–]jamminnzzz0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I agree with you man. I quit caffeine over a month ago, first few weeks sucked but now I am able to focus a lot better for longer hours at work. My sister dated an NFL player, and he told me he stays away from caffeine because its unsustainable. Quitting caffeine will probably be the best decision you make.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
That's the thing with any drug. It's never going to end well. The high or buzz or whatever feels so good is never going to feel good at the same dosage. You're always going to need more or else you're just sustaining an addiction for no reason. Speaking from experience. They all fuck with you in ways you don't expect and would never even realize at the time.
[–]Banana_Club_Alcudia-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not sure if I'd classify Coffee drinking as beta, but dependance on caffeine is definitely detrimental to quality of life.
My parents are not "morning people" and cannot start the day without coffee. They're highly dependant on it. I also hate waking up very early, but I'm not dependant on coffee. I drink an ice-cold glass of water every morning after getting out of the shower, and I feel great. Even without caffeine, I don't feel any worse than any of the dozens of my peers in morning classes, with their $5 Starbucks lattes, which probably isn't even their first coffee of the day. I'm happy I'm not addicted to coffee.
[–]Aesthetikal-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I knew it! That's why I hear girls say all the time they love guys who don't drink coffee! Right up there with being tall and handsome. I bet pussy slayers never drink coffee, now I know their secret!
