Basically, wearing more formal clothes makes one a more abstract thinker - or that one is thinking more like how a person that looks like that would think.

Interesting, but I wonder if there isn't a more RP interpretation to this.

Wearing (as in the article) a doctor's lab coat, or a suit, will result in people treating you differently, and if you aren't oblivious, that is going to influence how you behave. It's been often noted that one should "suit up" (Barney Stinson aside) when prowling, and I think there's something to this. Personally, I rarely wear a suit for anything, if it isn't required (probably once in the last year, a wedding in which I was a groomsman-like participant). I tried to get a kilt approved, but that was nixed and, hey, it's not my wedding (right?).

I wrote recently about what it's like being an older RP male. There are a few of us here. Being older, there is already an instant perception difference, in women. Trying to dress too young is an uber-fail, but being fashionable in a way one is comfortable with is perfect. And I have on a number of occasions showed up to a date with a kilt. As with a suit, this changes how they interact with me. It's daring, and, if you have the right aesthetic qualities, apparently quite sexy (according to both the words and actions of most of these dates).

Perhaps the best effect one can get through clothing is personal confidence. If you KNOW you look good (and are not delusional), you have made everything else you're going to do in your quest easier. Dressing in shorts and flip flops may (or not) be "okay" in college for a date, but in the real world, that's rarely a great idea.

So, RP men (and women, of course) - what's your experience with this?
