120 a day? What the fuck
[–]tigolbittiez11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Not unusual at all for a lot of blue pill friends of mine, even the ones in university with me. Hell, I probably did close to that with my ex in high school.
If you wanna know some real shit, my younger sister, a junior in high school, is an attractive girl. I'm told she is a solid 8. She has months where she does nearly 10,000 texts, in and out.
Then she turns around complaining how she has no time for homework or studying... I love her and all, I even help her with her math when I go home to visit, but kids these days blow my mind with how much social interaction they go out of their way to avoid, in favor of online and texting interactions.

The attention girls get nowadays from social media is absolutely insane. And then people wonder why they grow up to be entitled cunts.

*10 thirsty betas make inane comments
I see girls on their phones all day long between texting, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Vine, etc. I would not be surprised if this 24/7 "social" interaction actually harms their brain chemistry in some way. It's definitely abnormal.

used to have 300-400 with high school girlfriend a day... grim..
[–]2johnnight8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
she liked to use texting as a substitute for actual conversation. She wouldn't want to hang out with me in person because of [INSERT EXCUSE] but then she'd proceed to message me hundreds of times for the rest of the day.
Noticed the same thing once. It would appear as if that girl's (or all girl's?) goal of the game was to keep a guy on a hook. In a safe distant orbit. Once you look like you are escaping that orbit, some texting happens to pull you back.
I wonder what that was. Was I a great partner for conversations, but talking to me not in person was more gratifying than meeting me? Was I an intellectual text-whore?
Text messaging is going to be a tool for arranging hang-outs in person, nothing more.
Came to the same conclusion.

As an aside, I'll add that the one benefit of having a lot of conversation through texting is that everything is archived. So the whole gaslighting crap disappears. More than once I've saved myself by explicitly finding an old text to use as "evidence". Although... I suppose if you're at the point of having to find evidence...
Yeah, if you have to do this you've already lost whatever fight it is. Being right isn't always winning, and in the situation you're describing I'm sure that you don't come out winning even if the other person succumbs to defeat. Arguing with people is pretty much always much less effective than ignoring them.

/u/canteventhecat said, quote:
women do in fact pedastalize [alpha] men, it just manifests as letting a man get away with things rather than doing nice things for him
So if you need evidence to argue, you have already lost your alpha pedestal.

I got rid of my cell phone when I figured out the wife was just using it to keep tabs on me and get me to do shit. Texting is like a billion times worse.

I disagree with using it only as a logistical tool but it should be used in moderation; 27K messages is a fuckload, some people might say that was clingly. Who initiated most of the text based conversations, you or her?
I'm with you on the anxiety it causes when you text and don't get a reply. I think it (texting) is a method of communication favored by women because they can use it to bullshit you in many ways
[–]stillnoturday2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think this is better, use in moderation, IMO no I don't want to talk about what the girl is wearing where you work but if it is something interesting yea I'll text for a bit. I ignore texts like "UGGHHH this dude is creepy" or bi-hourly check ins to see what I'm doing.
Like this guy said moderation.
[–]trancefiend240 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Correct. OP's stance is not a good one-size-fits-all strategy for every girl you exchange numbers with.
There are many girls who I've had short in-person interactions with, exchanged numbers, then got them more invested through texting to meet up with me later. Boring get-to-know-you questions like "so where do you work?" are alright in moderation - even better if you send cool pics from your life. Anything to build up a bit more connection so she sees you as a real human being.
Of course don't go overboard.

All you need to know about text game
And this gem of a video on texting and why it's worthless. BOOM
Seriously the best shit I've ever come across when it comes to "phone game". I swear by this shit.

Using the phone as a means to setup a meet is a Doc Love edict. You want person to person interaction so you can judge her body language, have eye contact, and get physical. This is the only way you can get to know these chicks, develop any kind of attraction, and gauge if these chicks are worth any long term commitment.
Besides texting so damn much does not present the chick with enough challenge. In other words, you are ALWAYS available and that is NEVER a good thing.

I find texting as a simple way to stay in contact with people (if I want to). I don't fret if they don't answer or worry about how quickly they respond. It's a fire and forget communication method.

lol, you dated my ex
[–]mister_scruff1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You should only be using text messages as a quick way to arrange/re-arrange schedules. For all other communication, use your phone as a goddamn phone.
[–]Toof0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The other thing is that texting is more discreet and is useful if she's got a man, especially a live-in one.

Texting is pretty lame. I know girls that just are literally attached to their phones all the time and are devoid of human interaction. I've literally lost girl "friends" because I told them straight up: "If you're going to spend time with me and hang out, no phone, if you can't handle that, then we're no longer friends."
Really shows who respects you and doesn't.

The question we should all be asking is why women, especially attractive women, prefer texting over almost all other kinds of interaction.
The answer to that question will explain a lot.

Also, only text when she texts first. Sometimes a little bit of playing through texting can be useful, but let her initiate and move towards arranging a date ASAP
[–]ITworksGuys0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If I have a text conversation with more than a couple replies I just wrap it up.
They can call me if they want to talk more.
That shit is crazy. I am glad I grew up when texting wasn't a thing.
[–]3rt410 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I totally agree.
[–]remember130 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Guys, basically when you are not messaging her you are giving her attention. Attention from a man must generally be replied with affection( sex, bj's etc.) from the woman. Messaging a girl that you are not hanging out with is like a girl giving sex for free. That is the purpose of the date- the guy gives his attention and if the female deems him worthy, guess what? he receives affection.
