As early as my mid 20's, my life experience was that the worse I treated a woman, the more she wanted me. The ones I liked and treated well, usually cheated or dumped me.

I've noticed BF is a constant with women I've known who have been divorced and onto their 2nd husband/marriage. They've clearly settled in most of these cases and it grinds down at them. TL;DR: there is no one mating strategy for humans.

We are apes and mammals. There are many different mating strategies available for us and both men and women are capable of adapting.

Chimpanzee females will fuck every male that asks. The males fight between themselves to keep others from asking, but the females will deliberately try to fuck as many males as possible. Every male that fucks her is potentially the father of her offspring so is less likely to harm her or her baby later on.

Gorillas are territorial alphas. The males fight for territory and females belong to the winner. They literally have no choice in that, if they want to stay in the rich environment dominated by the alpha, they will have his babies. Of course, no reason for them to refuse, when he proved himself a good genes carrier by fighting off all those other males.

Orangutans are different, too. They are similar to gorillas, as there are dominant, territorial males, but adolescent males will wander the forests and try to rape females. It is likely that the mating behaviour of a woman is determined by life experiences, not genetics. It is also possible that once chosen the strategy is locked.
Fo example a girl will reach puberty much earlier in absence of a father. She will also be on average much more promiscuous.
