Summary Yesterday evening, being tired of staying on computer, I've decided to give TV a chance and stumbled on a "Dog Whisperer" show. In case you do not know already, the "Dog Whisperer" is a Mexican guy who tames unruly dogs by making himself the alpha in the pack. What I like about his show aren't dogs themselves, but how their owners are as predictable as their dogs: I've noticed how every time he uses dominance against dogs, the smell of tingles starts to ooze in the body language of his... female spectators. Like a clockwork!
So this modern couple (man and woman) had an aggressive pitt bull who charged against visitors and tried to kill every other dog/cat outside, the usual...
The "actors":
- Husband: Every time he spoke, his woman interrupted and assumed control on the conversation. Average in looks also: the omega of the house.
- Wife: just gorgeous (HB10+, checks everything you would want in a woman to the max: face, body & behavior). Her day to day job seems to be your typical woman who lives with a beta provider: always acting like a separate unit, trying to make least visual/physical contact with him, keeping the alpha scanner (TM) to highest sensitivity. Second to the dog in packing order.
- Dog: The master of the house. He did whatever he wanted while having others "hunt for a meal".
- "Dog Whisperer": your typical Mexican Mestizo, short, with a bit of a child face (which is, in case you don't know already, probably the most unattractive trait a man can have), and, of course, a bit of pot belly (he wouldn't be typical without). Just by looking at him, you would cast him in the undesirables lot (below husband even)...
The usual "scene": Cesar Millan enters the house, greets dog owners, listens to their story and makes an assessment about their dog. Behind the scene, if you concentrate on the body language, you would notice a lot more:
- he enters the house with his back straight
- he immediately places himself in the position of authority in a "calm and assertive" manner.
- he looks straight into people's eyes while talking without being aggressive
- he doesn't dispense a single word more than needed. His attention is valuable.
Wife greets him in a somewhat neutral manner then starts talking about her "special" dog. Her original body posture is same as Millan's (Dog Whisperer): firm, head up, condescendent. Her frame is rock-solid (despite the "vulnerable" display made to attract males): she probably knows her beauty (or at least her charm) with do their job in no time and expects Millan to follow suit. Typical of manipulators, once in a while she darts Millan to see if the trick worked. Doesn't seem to work... "Am I getting old? Am I not attractive? Is this guy gay?" Next time her body language changes: she starts to show signs of attraction: her frame has dropped a little, she tries to know more of him, opens up. Doesn't seem to work... When their eyes meet, he looks at her with amused superiority: I've never seen such impeccable frame in my whole life (especially before someone that hot). Caesar remains professional, giving equal attention to BOTH owners and showing his techniques of "calm and assertive" dominance that ultimately tames the aggressive dog into total submission. So much of dominance on display ultimately made the wife DRIPPING (her alpha male sensors must have been ringing like crazy), starts to cry for no reason, acts like a teenage virgin raving about her "secret" alpha crush, "accidentally" touches him (the "fuck tag", you know) and does everything with husband present, ALL ON FILM, while treating husband like house furniture. I just can't tell you the look on latter's face: abject defeat, desperation... Poor guy!
When his job was done Millan left the house, greeting both owners cordially, not looking behind, turning a blind eye to the "side effects" of his style. He was there for a job and nothing more! The last screen actually showed the wife sobbing and husband angry... All for the dog, of course:)
Conclusion Maybe few of you realize, but we humans are also LIVING the "software" of our genes, so to an external observer we would be as predictable as an ant. Our software is super-similar to that of dogs (and pretty much identical to other apes), so almost always the same things that work to tame dogs apply to humans as well. If you want to learn more about human behavior without social-science mumbo-jumbo simply watch other animals and extrapolate.
