A lot of the time you can't force things to happen in life, especially with relationships. If it was going to happen then it would, there are things you can do to increase chances but for example if you were never meant to go to a certain city or job you just never will no matter how hard you try to make it happen. I guess this is what we call fate even though I absolutely hate that concept because it makes it sound like its all luck.
The law of reverse effort states that "The harder we try with the conscious will to do something, the less we shall succeed". This can be true to relationships/game as well, because we all know that the minute you start to care about the outcome and what happens with a certain woman for example, you will fuck it up and lose that game. It probably doesn't even come from your mistakes, just the "energy" you give off by caring or being desperate.
So it really is true that if you focus on yourself these things will come naturally. Improve yourself and your confidence, work on your physique and career, keep putting yourself in uncomfortable situations and you are redpilled. Not spend all day at a mall trying to pick up women because that really doesnt work, you need your time and youre just gonna be dissatisfied with the return on investment.
Then again, how far should one take that? There are a lot of men who focus on their careers and become successful but reach their 30s still not knowing anything about women and having no experiences because everything in life is a skill, so is learning how to get women. So focusing solely on your career/self and locking yourself inside is the other side of the extreme... what do you all find your balance to be like?
