Here is my response to her article about my writing, enjoy.

Im the Red Pill contributor you quoted in your article.

It seems like you are having some difficulty accurately portraying my message.

The dating post you referenced discusses the fact that today's young women are heavily invested in social media. Social media validation is a major need for today's young women. As a man it makes sense to tailor your interactions to fit your partner's needs. For this reason I wrote about how to best capture your time together to address her need for social media validation.

The second post you quoted covers the serious topic of abuse accusations. Some women are incapable of seeing their past relationships objectively. In hindsight, they view all of their past boyfriends as evil abusers as a means of severing emotional ties. Some women also lie about being abused in order to fulfill their need for narcissistic validation. I acknowledge in my post that abuse is a very real problem. However, not all women are 100% honest all the time and some invent false abuse stories. The post had nothing to do with feminism. At no point do I even use the word 'feminism' in my post.

I understand that journalism is difficult. Comedic writing is an art. Its harder to lose weight than to and call yourself a fat-positive feminist. If you need help with any of these issues or anything else for that matter don't hesitate to contact me.

For anyone else interested in my writing or opinions, feel free to view more of my writing or contact me directly through my Reddit account GayLubeOil.

accurately portraying my message

She had no intention of being accurate.

[–]11411181 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well, it IS listed under "comedy".

[–]Senior Contributor: "The Court Jester"GayLubeOil 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There is definitely a way to successfully make fun of Red Pill and the Manosphere. This isn't it. The only funny thing about this article is how incompetent her editor is.

[–]11411181 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Given that it's the SBS website and not the TV station - she'd be lucky to even have an editor, let alone one interested enough in her article to actually correct anything.

All attention is good attention in media for them.

Your response is up on the site.

[–]Mr-Euffreducci 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Australian tax payer funded drivel.

Seriously, I expected a lot more quality from SBS. This joke of an article really is embarrassing compared to SBS's usual level of rigour.

[–]USS-Renegade 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Should be defunded and privatised.

[–]1bradyo2 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I got to the end and still didn't realise if this was a joke article or not. It was so astoundingly ignorant. Poe's law was in full force here.

Then I clicked on her twitter handle and saw everything I needed to confirm it was serious.

Yes let's all listen to someone who describes themselves as a "Ethical slut."

Is it just me or does humor/comedy just not work for women. I mean, she's clearly trying to be funny, but it comes off so pathetic and cringe-worthy.

I confess, I was a little thrown by the heading. I’m a feminist and I’m also a major league babe (no really, don’t Google Image search me, I was tired in all those photos, probably)

I just hate how just trying to force her annoying personality on me. Guess she realized her looks couldn't get her anything the pretty girls got, so she had to develop this strange sarcastic speaking rhythm she calls humor to compensate? shivers

*Also, why are all these feminist bloggers claiming he was an MRA? He only posted on anti-pua forum a few times and suddenly he's a men's rights activist? Pathetic tactics, you should be ashamed.

[–]Super_Positive 11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

They're women; they don't have to be funny to attract guys - their looks do it for them. It's only when women aren't attractive do they rely on humour, and not surprisingly, they aren't naturally good at it. Their version of humour is pretty much just attention seeking, hence why it's so fucking annoying.

The last line says it all...

Hahahaha oh god I am so depressed

This is supposed to be the closing line to an article, which usually concludes the overall tone of the text and poses and interesting question or simply hammers home a point. However what she does is...

'hahahaha' = "I know this isn't clever or funny so if I make it seem like it was by putting haha at the start people will think it's funny."

'oh god I am so depressed' = An appeal to emotion rather than logic, "all this is inherently bad because it makes me upset - therefore my criticism is valid, boo hoo feel sorry for me and give me attention because the bad people said mean things."

This is the style of humour women employ; lame, all about her, and pity-emotion based.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Comedy doesn't tend to work for women because they see humor as a weapon to attack people with instead of as an art form. Humor can be an extremely effective weapon but it takes an appreciation of beauty in order to create it. Think of a gun. If you're angry at someone and you want to attack them can you ever picture yourself trying to build a gun from scratch? No! You'd probably pick up the nearest sharp or heavy object and go after them. That is the female equivalent to humor. It takes an artist to design and build a gun. Which is why it ends up being a much more effective weapon.

In a more basic sense, women are unable to disguise their own motives in their attempts at humor. Whether they are trying to attack someone or humblebrag, their intentions are usually embarrassingly obvious through the thin veil of parody that they are so fond of calling "satire."

In short, they forget that the very point of humor is to make people laugh, not to serve as plausible deniability for them to make indirect attacks on their enemies. And so they misuse it and usually end up failing at it.

So she neither intelligent nor beautiful. Nature can be so cruel to her children....

No shortage of stupid and ugly in the world. Certainly no dearth of opinions from those people either.

[–]1Zackcid 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What a surprise!

[–]Trpdoc 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Holy sh*t, seriously. Photoshop exists for a reason

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dude, it's not cool to post up one of Gizmo's relatives and claim it's a woman.

[–]rpkarma 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

That's not an article. That's just drivel.

Hey I have an idea! Let's write one, and pick out all the crazy batshit "KILL ALL MEN" crap some rad-fems write! Identical in structure to this idiots article.

So, SBS World News is an excellent, centre news show. Their website however? Absolute rat-shit. Always has been.

[–]Super_Positive2 points 12 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm surprised as well, it was so personalised and included so many self-aggrandising, humourless anecdotes about herself that it bordered on unprofessional. SBS really let itself down by allowing such a biased and cringeworthy attempt at slandering MRAs get published under its name.

[–]rpkarma 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Their website has been like this for the last 18 months. The station? Amazing. The website? Absolute tripe, it's like it's not even the same company, just someone using their branding to push their far-left bullshit :/ It's weird as.

[–]Furyk_Karede 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

In what universe are The Red Pill and Pussypass representative of the MRM?

[–]ShinyBrah4 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

They're drawing straws to make sure the movement is painted in the worst light possible.

[–]iKill_eu 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'd like to pay to not be asociated with AVFM too.

[–]TRP VanguardCyralea 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ugly feminists using sarcasm to shame men into compliance is like omega men trying to use excessive niceness to turn women on. Just cringeworthy.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I see the MRM is making glorious progress, thumbs up for them.

[–]Aalewis__ 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

yall gonna be famous

[–]Senior Contributor: "The Court Jester"GayLubeOil 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I hope so. Id love to pull a Dick Masterson on televison.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's no ring on this finger yet.

Let’s just say that my university boyfriend owned a Che Guevara t-shirt and could grow one helluva beard.

So, with an empty tub of emotionally-eaten ice-cream by my side.

Hahahaha oh god I am so depressed.

I'll admit it, I laughed. She just sounds so pathetic and bitter.

[–]Johnny10toes 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She sounds like an idiot. People don't even try to hide their biased opinions anymore. That's not journalism.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

it's a little disturbing that men's advocacy groups and pickup artist communities are being lumped together, especially since the MRA groups absolutely despise pickup artist communities.

[–]Lipophobicity 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do not direct link this garbage, the hits only encourage more nonsense

[–]648262 -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I found parts of this quite funny to be honest. It's not exactly an in-depth science article, but for anyone unfamiliar with the material I'm sure this place kinda looks like that.

She's funny in my book.

[–]rpkarma 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

How is it funny (no, honestly, ignoring the message for a second I didn't find it funny at all... it was just like any other Tumblr post, but on a prestigious news website)? I really didn't see the humour in it, it just came across as trying too hard IMO.

[–]Super_Positive 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The picture that headlines the article (the guy holding the sign about reproductive rights) is a perfect example of why her humour is so shit.

A man will look at the guy holding the sign for a brief second, then look at his sign and read it - realising that it makes a lot of good points.

A woman however will look at the guy holding the sign, notice that he is overweight, has long messy hair, glasses and a neckbeard-ish shirt on and find this funny, completely disregarding the actual information on his sign.

Their though process goes: "OMG look at how creepy and nerdy that guy is, and he's holding a sign that feels anti-woman. LOL what a neckbeard loser, I bet he just hates women cause he cant get girls hahaha."

This is why we find this kind of humour fucking stupid - it isn't clever or witty, it's simply emotion based.

[–]Senior Contributor: "The Court Jester"GayLubeOil 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Maybe that guy is creepy and nerdy looking. But if I looked anything like Brydie Lee-Kennedy, I'd keep my mouth shut about how awkward/unattractive I think other people are.

[–]648262 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It might be very much like any other Tumblr post, but I would not know too much about that. I don't know the news website either, so it could have been a regular blog for all I care. The whole thing might be a bit try-hard, I agree, but I can look past that. There were three sections that I liked, basically these:

So instead, I decided* to visit some of the more popular MRA forums online to see if I could better understand their views. After all, in the words of President Bartlet, “The internet has been a phenomenal tool for hate groups”. (Not that I think they’re a hate group definitely! Just a group of people who get together to hate! Could call that anything, really.) After many hours of interesting** reading, here are a few of the best*** threads I found.

*was asked to by my editor, who I will never forgive, RIP our positive working relationship, 2014-2014, Never Forget

**terrifying

***genuinely best, most of this stuff was too grim for me to share. Just because I’ll never sleep again doesn’t mean you guys should suffer.

And this:

So I was pretty confused when I opened a thread titled “Manipulating Women in the Age of Social Media”. Weirdly, the first post wasn’t “Don’t do it”.

And this:

So I checked in on the thread titled “Why are there so many abusive men”? Wow! That’s actually a very valid and important question and I am keen to hear your thoughts on...oh. It’s basically feminism? Feminism is why there are so many abusive men? Right. OK. Cool. Very cool.

I don't usually like humor that makes fun of other people, so the top picture does nothing for me. However, I guess I like it when there is a hint of "wink-wink, nudge-nudge" like in the first section and people getting a bit mind fucked like in the last two sections.

[–]rpkarma 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Okay, fair enough. Honestly, I like humour like that too, but usually because it has a brilliant undercurrent of truth... Whereas this doesn't as far as I'm concerned. Using that kind of humour can be gripping and biting, I'll agree, I just truly don't think this is a good example of it (on the contrary, I think she makes a total mess of it).
