Greetings.

I just read Rollo Tomasis post "War Brides". It is an interesting theory that got me thinking. The simplified version of the argument is as follows:

In the past there were tribal wars. When conquering tribes take over another, they usually kill the men (and sometimes the children), while leaving the women for future breeding purposes. Rinse and repeat. Due to the violent nature of women´s relationships with men, the sudden change, it is in women´s best interest to develop and emotional armor to shield their psychological state from overly attaching to one particular man, as they can be swept away in an instant.

The modern version of this is portrayed by the fact that after a breakup women (in general) are very fast to move on and become emotionally detached from the previous relationship with ease.

Ever wonder why it is a woman can ‘get over you’ so quickly after a break up from a relationship you’d thought was rock solid for so long? Ever wonder why she returns to the abusive boyfriend she hopes will change for her? Look no further than feminine solipsism.

Tomasi writes.

Here´s the thing that is bothering me. I get the conjunction between the evolution (due to natural selection) of an emotional shield when it comes to new partnerships. But the second one:

Ever wonder why she returns to the abusive boyfriend she hopes will change for her?

Perplexes me.

Therefore, I was hoping someone here could shed some more light on the subject.

Why does "feminine solipsism" (what i refer to an emotional shield) lead to woman returning to an abusive boyfriend?

^(One a side note, English is not my native language so bear with me.)
