I'm waiting to start a new job and hoping the English summer won't melt me before I can start - it was hotter here than in Thailand yesterday, fucking jokes.

If I were you I'd make sure I read a lot of books with my spare time, you're already exercising which is good, but are you making sure to lift too?

I don't know about your money situation but, whilst your waiting for things to take off, you should maybe try and travel a little bit, nothing major, just days out in the countryside or in the mountains if you live near any.

Don't just spam employers with your business cards either, have a look online at how best to market yourself, make a nice CV and write good prospective and covering letters.

Dude, if you're a high school kid.. Just take a break and relax. It's good to have drive and to want a summer job and all that, but you don't need to be busy every single day of the week on your summer break 24/7.

Go hangout with your friends, go to the beach, go chase girls and have fun. You'll have plenty of time after high school or college to spend busting your ass for a paycheck and you might regret missing out on fun shit while you were young.

I will say though.. Don't waist your summer time sitting indoors playing video games/watching TV/sitting on the internet. Also, I would focus on putting together a resume before you go around handing out business cards if you're dead set on spending your summer working.

Go hiking, know your environment around.

Go biking, go jogging, learn to build a WordPress website, hunt, fish, learn the trees and flowers in your city, grow weed, learn to bet and lose all of your cash.

From emptiness and boredom rise the greatest and rawest energy to build (or destroy) stuff.

Just don't get drunk af or smoke weed, tobacco, browsing reddit... and you'll end up appreciate your spare time , just sit, watch, and creativity will come naturally.

This is what I'm doing:

1) Learning languages. Assimil, along with old Linguaphone courses, is the best language learning method I've found. There are whole communities of language learners (language learners dot org and how to learn any language dot com), along with polyglots who give incredible advice (Alexander Arguelles, Luca whats his name, etc.)

2) Learning how to code. I'm starting with Python. There are various resources that teach you the basics for free--codeacademy, How to think like a computer scientist, dive into python, and so forth.

3) Practicing music. From my experience, sax is one of the easier instruments to start out on from the winds side. I'm a trumpet player though...

4) Writing. Writing is a way for me to organize my thoughts and give large treatments of topics I know I'll encounter in my daily life. It's not so much the writing itself so much as the thinking I do beforehand that matters to me. You can also start writing short stories, poems, and other creative fiction.

5) Walk. One of the best forms of exercise, and it helps you think.

6) Read. I try to keep a balance between books with advice I can apply and more abstract philosophical books. I would recommend reading Descartes' Meditations, Berkeley's Three Dialogues, Aurelius' Meditations (more practical), Hume's Enquiry on Human Understanding, and Socratic dialogues by Plato. These books are oftentimes contradictory, but wrapping your head around these arguments will strengthen your ability to think clearly.

Try FSI language courses to learn a new language. Choose one that excites you to learn on your own and the courses are free online with audio tapes and whatnot. You can even start a class with similarly minded friends out of your room. I did that and now, years later, I make a little extra cash anytime I need/can by teaching spanish :)

I ordered 500 business cards with my name I'll hand around to my neighborhood to offer a power washing service and I'll also apply to a few jobs in my neighborhood.

There are job recruiters that can get you a job instantly... but they take a large cut from what they pay the employer.

Craigslist will list a ton of jobs near you and often you can eliminate the job recruiter middleman and get paid more.

Walking the streets handing out business cards is probably not the most effective approach, though it can't hurt to try.

You said in a comment you already know some coding languages. Why not bid for projects on Upwork and make money as a freelancer? It would pad your resume and lead you down a better work path than what power washing would do although the sales portion of power washing and keeping your books in order is good learning. Look for a sales job the skills are timeless.

I'd try practicing art or something along the creative process. There's just something so interesting about starting a project and looking at the final product. Looking back at how you tired and failed certain steps before going on to the next part.

I don't have real hobbies tbh but I am working on some projects, fixing things up in the house

Might give rock climbing a try because I like the risk, and probably will learn how to swim

learn philosophie and psychologie. philosophie will help you to relativise, and psychologie will allow you to analise humans beings (can really be useful when you want to seduce a woman).

I'm in a similar situation to you, 16 and almost into my summer vacation. If you're complaining about an issue like too much time on your hands your doing it all wrong. You're young, literally have 0 shit to worry about, and your risk after failing is at a minimum. Just go out and do shit that will help you grow as a person and become better then yesterday. I like to make the most out of my time and do stuff that's gonna help me grow and be successful. So here's a couple things you can do as someone who's in the same boat:

-Workout and hit the gym everyday

-Don't stop at just working out. If you're in high school play sports and maximize you're athletic ability. Go for a run, do some vertical training, or play a sport so you get better at it. If you have at least decent athleticism and are willing to put work in to improve your stamina or train vertical and consistently play a sport you like. You can easily make it as a player on a high school team.

-Read. There's infinite knowledge in books that can help you even in high school read about everything from money, business, working out, psychology, and philosophy. My advice don't just read a book to read it that's useless. If you actually want to gain knowledge and practical skills out of any book. Make notes and focus on applying what you learn in your own life so it sticks and you have better memory retention.

-Use Lynda.com and Corsera. Lots of courses on Corsera are free and Lynda.com is like 29.99 per month but free for a lot of educational institutes. My library and school board gives a free premium account so I use that. THERES INFINITE SHIT TO BE LEARNED. Take a full stack web development course and learn to make websites. Use a full graphic design course to learn to make logos and designs that you can use in school and in any business. Learn basic accounting and about financial systems and offer to help with the books of small businesses for a cheap price. Take business courses about amazon fulfilment and selling on eBay. Just learn anything

-A lot of high schoolers hate hearing this but study for the SATs and work on your math skills. I used to hate math and thought I just wasn't a kid who was good at it. I used khanacademy and studied hard and am not top 3 in my class. Maths not about being good with numbers it's about working hard to understand so study with khan academy or another website to maximize your SAT score so you'll get into the best possible college/university.

-Take singing and dance lessons or learn an instrument skills that help you become a better man and help you slay pussy.

-Start a business and network. Why waste your time working a shitty minimum wage job. The most valuable asset is your time and experience is so much better then just working at fast food restaurant or a shit job. Go around to local business and ask to help them out for free and learn stuff. Email random start ups and ask if they need help or an intern and learn valuable skills. Email random ceos or company's what's the worst that can go long.

-If you want money learn to flip and sell. Sales is an incredible valuable skill and if you can sell your pockets will never be empty. If your a sneaker head like me then search craigslist of instagram/Facebook pages or groups and find people selling kicks for cheap or damaged ones. Fix them up and re sell and make a huge profit. Learn to fix iPhone screens and there's a bunch of money you can make. Order screens in bulk online and offer to fix screens for a lot cheaper then other people around you. Or but damaged iPhones with broken screens and parts. Fix and replace parts and re sell.

You're venting as having too much time is a a bad thing. It's the biggest blessing you can have. There's adults on this subreddit who are 40/50 who wished they were younger who could use info on TRP to kill at life. You have it now go make the most of it.
