I especially like the Draper one, because it's very true. There's no guarantee that there's going to be a tomorrow. There's no guarantee that you will survive today, that a plane won't fall on your fucking head, that your brain will bleed, etc.

It is a bit depressive with this perspective. I agree that is the reality of life. People are selfish by default, but there are many other human quality that would trump selfishness occasionally.

If I can satisfy your humanity with good deeds (i.e.: I express my feelings and do stuff/make money/sacrify myself for you), wouldn't you put faith in me as an individual?

I personally believe everyone is selfish, like you say here. But I also personally believe everyone can be selfish for the one they have faith in, such as your immediate relatives (i.e.: friends, business partners, lovers, parents, family).

If your faith in humanity has been broken too much, a different tactic of faith investment should be the better approach.

It is a very cheesy thing to say, but I think love is always better than hate. But love smart, not blindly.

Really enjoyed this post. You're talking about fundamental truths of life, Buddhism, philosophy, and beyond, but with verbiage that was fun and lighthearted. Way to drop knowledge on folks. excellent post and something i've discovered myself a few years ago. of course shit had to happen for me to start thinking about everything, but no matter how i tried to rationalize the timeless question, i always ended up at the same conclusion. it doesn't fucking matter. nobody gives a fuck about you and life only matters in the terms of nature, to create more life and let the species go on. for what purpose? not sure, but while you're here, just enjoy the fuck out of it and do what you gotta do for yourself and not anyone else.

Just because you call out yourself on making contridictions in your post it doesn't make your idea more understandable or valid.

One other thing. Believe it not or not, but people like to care about other people and they do. It makes us feel good to help and care about our kind, it gives our lives meaning and shit.

You talked about a choice in response to my comment about "fake it till you make it". Well, I believe, that there's a choice how look at the world too.

You can have a viewpoint that everyone is malicious consciously, that people are greedy, angry, selfish etc. on purpose. Or

You can choose to belive that those people don't know any better and do the best they can with the experience, skill and wisdom at that moment in time.

And as you said people don't really care about being bad towards "you", we always try to do the best for "me".

This is the truth, undeniably. Just that the queue for 'sweet lies' is longer than 'bitter truths'.
