Do you otherwise enjoy using social media? If so, don’t deactivate, just unfollow. There’s no reason to restrict your life to avoid maybe possibly hurting the fees of anyone who shouldn’t take something that petty personally anyway.

If you already kinda hate the social medias, screw it, drop off and enjoy all the extra time you’ll have in your day.

If you’re worried that if you unfollow they might ask for a reason, first of all what a childish thing for a presumably grown person to do (wait, ARE we talking about grownups?), but second you can just say “oh I just had too many people, nothing personal, trying to cut down on my usage” or anything else you want to tell them. You never have to say “well I’ve been crushing on you for years and used to want to obsess on your every move but I’m over that now okay see you at the meeting!”

Unfriend or unfollow, OR you could just block them. Then they'll think you deactivated your accounts and only the really curious/determined ones might figure out you didn't.
