Want to thank FDS for helping me grow & become content & happy. I have everything I need & much of what I want, and those things I still hope to accomplish will come with time and effort. I got this. My ex, well, he's a piece of work. He doesn't live up to his responsibilities per our decree but the checks clear & he tries to be a good father. He is currently refusing to speak to me, which is actually lovely.

The situation- He started dating one of my friends (I knew her through him) and when that went predictably sideways, it was a train wreck. He told the kids she was mentally unwell & not to contact her or read her messages. He called her parents to say she was at risk of self harm, called police for a wellness check, etc. tells everyone they know about how he tried to help her blah blah blah

And then started dating someone half his age.

This is his playbook. You all taught me to recognize the pattern. Emotional abuse & gaslighting until the woman thinks she is (or actually is) unstable. Dude turns his 'concern' into a weapon & tells the whole world how his partner is crazy & he is so put upon, he just can't take it anymore, he had to break it off, everyone pity him, he really sticks to a script. Same deal with the girl before me,, me,, and now this poor woman. Breaking women is simply his hobby.

I predicted the new girlfriend would be young, because of course she would be.

His ex, my old friend, has reached out to me. Once to tell me she was sorry that she had believed him & not me about our relationship, and offering to help if I needed it in our custody case. I told her the case was mostly resolved but thank you, and quoted one of our mutual favorite movies ("if you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine"). Then she sent an apology for a Facebook post that called him out and mentioned me, albeit not by name. I did not respond directly per my lawyer's advice, but advised her through a friend to read "Why Does He Do That." Finally, she reached out to a different friend and offered to spill the tea about every shitty thing he said or did during our relationship that I may be unaware of. I declined, as I don't care. He can't hurt me anymore & I genuinely have no fucks to give about him, past or present, as long as he fulfills his responsibilities to the kids.

I think she would benefit from the FDS community and would like to recommend it to her (after I delete my posts!). Should I attempt this rescue mission? I miss her & I wish I could have prevented the damage he did, but it wasn't possible. Or mourn that relationship with her & be done? Or wait longer perhaps? Another alternative? I welcome your thoughts and again thank you for the guidance I needed to see through the nonsense of my ex & find peace.

TL/DR- my ex's ex, a former friend of mine, is reaching out to me, I want to help her, but unsure if this is a good idea or even possible.
