It is a choice, you are absolutely right. They don't keep in touch because it's not important enough to them and they don't care. The people who are saying it's normal are lying to themselves to avoid seeing the painful reality of their own situations.

I’ve been wondering the same thing! It seems like a lot of guys I’ve been seeing/talking to lately like to text one HUGE text a day when it’s convenient for them. I hate it so much.

I wait and wait and wait, only to get a wall of text about dry surface levels things like music and movies or whatever.

I’d much rather get quick stories, memes, tik toks, or “how’s your day?” texts throughout the day. To me, this shows that someone sees something that brings them joy, thinks of me, and wants to share that little piece of happiness with me.

Edit: Just wanted to add that it never gets better. I asked the last guy I was in a semi serious relationship with to text me short texts throughout the day, whenever he was on his phone, even if it was just a heart emoji, and he never stopped with the infrequent walls of text.

I believe it's not normal and that they don't really care. If you are with this person, you should be a priority. It can happen from time to time that they may be speaking to other people and be unable to reply you in a timely manner, but it should not happen all the time.

Don’t even bother discussing with the said person about his activities online, he will only provide excuses such as “oh my Insta is always glitching, that’s why I appear online and not reply”. Yeah right. They just don’t want to text you.
