Because he wants to keep controlling you. He feels like he owns you and if you stop having contact he is losing that ownership.

Block him, he doesn't respect you. He doesn't miss you. He misses what you supplied him with: time, attention, validation.

That species will only come after you once you remove them from your life. It’s a dominance thing. They subconsciously want to know what you’re up to just to make sure that you’re not doing as well as them. When you remove them from your life, they lose that ability and they can’t stand it.

This situation is almost exactly what I went through with my ex and trust me when I tell you that he does not want you back. I made the mistake of trying to stay and it only dragged the breakup an extra month. This man just wants to feel that he has some control over your life. He wants to see if you’re still willing to go back to him. When you block him out, it shows that you 100% no longer care about him. He wants you to “care” to some extent. It’s just how they are.

Ignore what he says regarding your mom. That was a very low blow and no amount of apologizing should make you take him back. He knew that she hurt you badly and yet he still said it. He is out of your life now and should stay that way.

Also a man that doesn’t commit to his word is a man not worth the time of day. You will realize it someday. Stay strong, you deserve better!

If you really blocked him, he wouldn't have the opportunity to speak to you. So are you talking to him or not? Block, delete and move on with your life. If he finds some workaround to get past your block, block that avenue as well and don't respond.

He thought he can do better, but was rejected and realized you’re the best he’s ever gonna get. Don’t reply and block him, he’s only texting you because he didn’t manage to find someone else.

Human nature.

The other day, I saw a woman was standing with her dog outside of a cafe. A man had a toddler who was curious about the dog, and wanted to pet the dog, but wasn’t ready. Every time the dad would bring him a little closer to the dog, the boy would move his hand away and back off. Obviously the dog owner has a life, so she’d start to leave, and then the boy would get upset, so out of compassion, she’d stop. Repeat this process of dad bringing boy to dog, boy not petting the dog, woman starting to walk away, like 3 times. Eventually she just like, really needed to go about her day and left. The boy cried. But perhaps next time this youngster sees a dog he’d like to pet, he’ll understand that the owner won’t wait indefinitely for him to work up the courage, so he’ll just have to go for it.

It’s like that, but with adults. When someone is both ready and understands there are limits, they’ll do what they know they have to do. I believe there are LVM who have potential to be HVM. Not all men have a positive role model to teach them as boys, and if you look at the dating advice subs on Reddit, it’s clear our dating culture certainly doesn’t teach it either. So, if they’re going to learn it will be from real world experience.

The best you can do- which is a teaching moment but also at minimal emotional labor drain to you- is walk away with your dog, so the next time he sees a dog that interests him, he is more proactive. Now, it sucks that he couldn’t be HVM for you, but perhaps there’s another woman out in the world taking her dog away right now, a man is learning from it, and while he wasn’t better for her, he will be better for you.
