Been unplugged almost a year now. Lifting, reading is going well, almost OI, but one thing remains the same; I dont think I have during this time done anything just for myself. I have been monitoring closely my thoughts and they seem still look like outside validation seeking.

When Im lifting, thinking how I will impress my friends next summer. I am not sitting in the gym and daydreaming hours how I flex my pectorials in the barbecue party, but random thoughts come and go and they are still the same.

Wearing new clothes, again, seeing myself all the time from others perspective, sometimes comparing myself to others.

At work- this is still so pathetic, I cannot seem to motivate myself do anything just for myself, I can push myself of course and has been doing this for months with great success, but when there is possible outside validation or shame, I will work 10 times harder no pushing needed.

When those thoughts come I just recognize them and keep doing my thing, but will they ever stop and change? Its easy to say, dont look outside validation, do it for yourself, what is the difference actually when outcome is the same?

I have analyzing other high achievers I know, all of them has some kind of outside validation motivation or ego problem, to push themselves constantly.

I vaguely remember when I was 18 thinking i am centre of the universe, I was master manipulator, perfect lawyer material, but somewhere in the road started hating those skills.

I guess there must be some thought pattern change when really not giving fuck and putting yourself first?
