Seriously though, would you have fixed the dishwasher if she wasn't trying herself? Women try this when they are fed up with men not doing it.

Taking care of shit, is Alpha. It doesn't mean you are Beta to get someone else to do stuff. If your wife has to call someone else to do stuff because you don't take action, then you are Beta.

Some shit I do myself, other stuff I have done. An in charge man knows when to make the call, and to who, and doesn't get taken for a ride, because he knows stuff.

Letting her call someone to come to the house and fix shit is beta. You can’t be expected to know how to fix everything. However, if you need to call a professional, you be in charge of it. Call, make the appointment, be there when the dude fixes it so you can understand what’s going on. Handle it don’t just leave it for her to do all by herself. What captain would do that?

For years, I sluffed off that shitnto the wife. You’re fucking home. You do it. She already had a full plate and I would step up and own shit and couldn’t understand why she was pissed at me. Duh! Drunken Captain.

Just last week, she was going to call someone to come fix something and when it told her to give me the number and I would handle it, all the tension left her face and she was filled with relief.

Either fix it yourself or take charge of getting it fixed.

Its not about fixing it. Its about being on top of it to get it fixed.

The idea is to show a pattern of being on top of stuff. I am not handy AT ALL. but that doesn't stop me from being on top of things to make sure they get done.

Being a man, is not about being able to fix everything. I know Alphas, that will pay for most things to get done by someone else, because, they value their time more that fiddling around with a screwdriver for 30 minutes. If you are trying to fix everything yourself and do a shit job, because your are a tight ass, its not Alpha. If you are paying someone to do everything, so you can be a lazy ass on the couch, its not Alpha.

If you can fix something, quickly, efficiently, and properly, that is owing your shit. If you can freely admit, that you suck at something, and organize the right tradesman, to do the work on time, and properly, that is owning your shit.

There's nothing wrong with doing that as long as you're handling it and making sure it gets fixed. If you can fix it, then cool, but if you can't, it's not some "beta move" to call someone who can.

"if you need stuff fixed, ask me. Don't do it yourself".

This is important, and you need to make sure you understand the reason why she was in there trying to fix it herself. Had it been broken for a while? Did you know it was broken? Etc.

It's possible it had been broken for a while, but she knew about it, and you didn't. That's why there needs to be a precedent and understanding set that she brings you these issues.

I have done many repairs when my H was too preoccupied with his "important" stuff to take care of such things. I am of the opinion that after I told him 3 times in 2 months it should have been addressed. So I did them myself. Not always successful on my own but the Stuff got done. His ego was bruised - but if he truly cared about that he could have done it sooner.
