16-8 Fasting?

I've been on a 22/2 fasting for the past year and 3 months. I do take a break from it every 3-4 weeks for a day just to let the body rest a bit.

In general, I've experienced the following: - increased focus, especially in the morning - decreased ups and downs throughout the day - weight loss (maybe because i count calories and its super easy to track them when you eat a single massive meal a day) - improved sexual performance

If you aim to try it, include your first meal right after gym. Although you may not have a source of nutrition throughout the day, its important to feed your body after a workout to avoid atrophy.

Generally, you'll find it hard for the first 3 days - week to stick with it. Later on your body adapts and you don't really experience hunger that much.

Also important: Avoid teas and coffee outside your eating window, doesn't matter if you add sugar or not. Anything other than water will spin up your liver enzymes and essentially break the fast, even though it might not have calories in it.

yes IF is truly fantastic stuff. 16 is a good start and the benefits only increase with fasting time!! enjoy !

I do 16-8 fasting during the work week, and sometimes on weekends. When I first rededicated to lifting and good diet, I did the fasting strict 16-8 as well. Results were rapid, significant weight loss, increased energy and focus, etc. Noob gains happened initially with lifting, but gains kept happening at a pretty high rate after noob gains were done.

I also do fasted morning workouts once or twice a month on weekends. It's hard at first, but then the body adjusts metabolism and the energy hits. Just have to fight through the initial discomfort.

For me, I think having regular fasting time retrained my body to more efficient use fat stores and burn off extra weight quicker. No scientific basis for that other than the rapid results I experienced. There might be another explanation though, I'm not an expert by any means.

On work days, I do make myself a coffee and put a little butter in it. The butter coats the stomach and holds hunger at bay, but it's not enough calories to stop your metabolism from being in a fasting state. Again, though, I'm no expert and believe this to be the case, others might disagree, and they might be right. All I know is what I do works well for me.

A trainer once explained to me how intermittent fasting also has some metabolic effect that increases gains. I don't remember the particulars, but he gave a detailed physiological description of how it worked and told me the most ripped lifters he'd seen all did IF as part of their diet plan.

I don't know the scientific details, but I do believe IF can help you increase weight loss rate and increase gains from lifting. I've experienced big time results and believe that IF plays a part for me.

Yep I love it. Was never a big breakfast person anyways so I really didn't have to change much. Just pushed my lunch back an hour or so.

I feel great when I wake up and hit a fasted lift/cardio session.

Plus I'm cutting right now so I feel a lot better have 2 medium-sized meals than 3 small meals.

Personally, I take all my food for the day and put it in a crockpot so when I come home it’s done. And that’s all I eat. Sucks the first week or two. But it takes something extremely challenging like losing weight and makes it so much simpler and easier. Not to mention how much money and time you’ll save

I do 20/4 and it's helped me cut down to 10% bodyfat (while counting calories as well).

The other benefit I've gotten from it is better sleep. I used to snack at night now I don't eat anything 3-4 hours before bedtime and it's helped a lot.

Fasting can be done many different ways but it's better to suit it to your lifestyle. I do a 24 hour fast once a week and it helps, probably not as much as daily but my gut/stomach issues are diminished.
