It seems like you have pretty debilitating social anxiety, and have for most of your life. Idk if that's "beta" so much as it's something you have to deal with IF you want a different life. Do you? Doesn't really seem like it.

If you do, get off the computer, take away the things you use to comfort yourself when you miss one of these opportunities. If the option is to either go out, or stay home looking at a blank wall, which would you choose? If it's still the blank wall, you probably are in need of therapy for the social anxiety...

You are just an introvert? You've got some problems with giving up but other than that, just accept how your thought process works, learn from your mistakes and start improving in all aspects. Meditate to understand yourself.

edit: Giving up might be related to social anxiety.

Look for testosterone boosting foods and supplements. Try vitamins for anxiety & maybe phenibut. Are you a virgin?

When you want it bad enough, you'll change. Right now you just seem to be okay with mediocrity. You haven't hit critical mass where some girl royally fucks you over or your hairline starts receding and you realize you don't have time to coast through life on easy mode anymore.

I'd suggest that you try to "join" a group of males (any size group, like on the 'big bang theory', for instance) so that you can enjoy male friendship, maybe some bonding, get out and do some things without worrying about being the center of attention, but be in on the fun.

At the same time, start reading: No More Mr Nice Guy, When I Say No I Feel Guilty, Taming Your Outer Child, The Way Of The Superior Man, and Sheet Music.

That you could have some abandonment issues from early childhood would seem reasonable to me. It's certainly not rare; books that sold well have been written about it. No autism noted from anything that you posted.

I have always been pretty introverted and have similar examples of declining almost certain fun and immediately regretting it. Now, people are surprised when I say I'm introverted because I am quite sociable when around people. I'll still decline activities from time to time, but the feelings of regret are rare because I force myself to go to enough social activities for my taste. It took/takes effort to push myself outside of my comfort zone. And guess what, never once have I regretted going outside of my comfort zone.

As others said, your situation may be closer to social anxiety. Hopefully you can get help for that, but in the meantime I recommend pushing yourself. Don't dwell on missed opportunities -- focus on seeking future ones.

Other books are available for introverts - Quiet by Susan Cain is one of them. The introvert advantage is an other.

Any issue you have, there is a book. Find it, read it, use it.

I have no idea what you're even asking. We all have examples from our past where we did something weird, who cares?

What are you actually wanting/asking? What's your problem?

You're right, I am very introverted, but I just thought those examples were a bit odd (as opposed to simply not going out to crowded places etc.)

But in future if I am invited to anything I will force myself to go along, and hopefully there are some xmas or NY parties I can tag along to.
