Stupid question, but an answer would be helpful. Im learning as quickly as I can, and apparently being direct is the way to go. Instead of slowly hoping for her to drop a hint, I just went for it. So here's what happened:

She was studying alone, I approached and looked down at her untill she made eye contact, i said "hi, how's it going" and put my stuff down and sat next to her.

She was much younger (1st year). I talked and used what I learned to pretty much make her laugh (teasing/joking).

She didn't ask me any questions, she seemed very nervous and giddy. So since convo wasnt growing because I had to initiate everything, but she was constantly laughing/smiling and making eye contact.

Since she had a non stop smile and Using feedback I got earlier ( " strike while the iron is hot"). I asked if she had any plans after her test on Saturday that she was studying for, she said nothing, here's the convo;

Me: " I want to go to a locked room, does that sound fun to you" Her: " I've been to them before, I don't have fun"

so I tried asking to go an adult arcade, she said she said she doesn't really like to go out, then I tried again;

Me: "do you like good food, im great at cooking and you can just lend me a hand and I'll do the heavy lifting"

Her: " No thanks".

Once again, still giddy and smiling while going through all that.

I sat there for a minute texting some people, got up , got her name and shook hands and told her studying alot is great but you should have more fun.

Question:

Is what I did, being direct and asking her out the right approach?

Was she just too nervous to say no, or was she just not interested cuz I didn't play it right?

Any other feedback here will be appreciated.

Edit: interesting feedback, some of the feedback directly contradicts others lol. I'll keep an eye on this.
