I think the general consensus is that a plate is: one of many girls you're actively fucking.

That implies there are multiple, and that you're actually fucking them.

A fuck buddy is also a plate, unless she's the only one. Then she's just a fuck buddy.

They're the same. I suppose you could say a fuck buddy if she's used the term is a chick who's accepted her status as plate. It's a useful term because any woman who has been a fuck buddy is not LTR material.

There is no actual difference between the two except for the context where to use them.

Only use plate within TRP context, like on here for example. With other people you can use the term fuck buddy since they don't know what a plate is.

The plate definition is kinda nebulous. One of the mods, u/bsutansalt, posted this: Women can only be counted as a "plate" if you've actually having sex with them on a recurring basis. The Rational Male says otherwise: Think of each plate as a separate woman you are pursuing.

IMO, the important take on this is from TRM: the essence of plate theory is that a man is as confident and valuable as his options. This is the essence of the abundance mindset – confidence is derived from options.

IMO, fucking a woman makes her a fuckbuddy. She doesn't become a plate until/unless she is one of multiple women that you have an option with.

All fuckbodys are plates. However plates can be potential fuckbuddys as well.

So when you're in a monogamous relationship you can stack up plates, women who think you're hot and (might) want to sleep with you when the time is appropriate , but you can't stack up fuckbuddys.
