It will increase to women who like dogs.

It will only decrease if you get one of those stupid froo froo dogs that you can carry in one hand. Make sure you get a real dog.

Also realize that a dog is a fair bit of work and responsibility. Don't get one if you're not willing to exercise it daily, feed it properly and make sure it's taken care of for the next ten years.

Bear in mind that this reply is making no judgment about you personally. I don't know you or your circumstances. I am generalising based on your question.

I think that if you are concerned owning a dog will reduce your SMV - enough to ask about it online - then don't get one. In itself it won't hurt your value, but with your mindset, regardless of what people online say, you might end up blaming the dog for any unsuccessful seductions and regret owning it, or you might credit the dog for your successes, when in actuality it's ALL on you. You may even become neglectful of an animal as a result. Plus owning a dog is a big responsibility, so a low SMV person should be pouring his time and energy into self-improvement, not taking on more time sinks.

What a dog does do is give you an easy excuse to meet people in public, because you can chat with other dog owners, and a small cute dog will be a magnet for women. But this is a crutch and you will serve your development better by learning how to approach without it.

I own working dogs. One's job is to kill rats, gophers, and ground squirrels. The other's job is to keep the deer, elk, birds, and moose off the farm. Both excel at what they need to do to earn their kibbles.

I absolutely love dogs but like the previous posters have said, ya gotta be in it for the long haul and get them for the right reason, which is not being a "chick magnet". Trim is an added bonus. Especially for women who own and like dogs.

Do not get any pets unless you can put the time in and have some sort've stability.

I saw a bumper sticker one time that said, "The Better I Get To Know People, The More I Like My Dog".

They will die for you.

But honestly take this decision for yourself without worrying about how it will affect your SMV, do you want a best friend that will always be loyal to you?Then get a dog.
