Depends on your budget. My advice would be to buy some samples online first and test them for a few days.

Off the top of my head:

Dior Sauvage EDP - pretty safe, almost chemical smelling fragrance with spices mixed in. Interesting combo but gets a LOT of compliments

Dior Homme/Dior Homme Intense/Dior Homme Parfum - All of these are cool if you like to stand out. Both contain a strong iris note and intense smells a bit more like chocolate/marshmallows while the regular version maintains a sweet floral scent. Awesome scents but maybe a bit more on the "metrosexual" side. Try before you buy but imo some of the best modern scents ever made. I'll add in the parfum variant even though it's discontinued but it's an even more mature scent than the other 2, basically a rich iris with smoke. Heavenly.

YSL La nuit de l'homme - The original panty dropper. There's a weird Indian smelling herb in here that actually smells nice with a shit ton of cardamom as well. The current version is much weaker than those prior, but still a great scent.

Dolce & Gabanna The One (EDP) - Nice Grapefruit/tobacco mix. Stay away from the EDT as it lasts about as long as I did after my freshman dance.

I get compliments on Cool Water.

A tip: You should have a "summer" fragrance and a "winter" fragrance... but this depends on where you are ion the world.

I live in the bay area, so winter is just rainy and cool. IN areas where there is a starker difference between Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter you should pick a lighter fragrance with citrus/flower/fruit tones (they should remind you of "cooler") for the summer and heavier fragrances with spicy/musky tones (they should remind you of "warmer") for the winter

Try a bunch out and see what you like and what works with your body chemistry. For the past few years I've been using Eau Sauvage, one of the original classic scent thats been around forever.

Honestly it depends what YOU like. A scent can say a lot about your personality and leave a lasting impression on women, it's very powerful. Avoid buying things simply because they are popular. Remember that the best selling designer fragrances have likely already been smelt by women...

Fragrances I have gotten huge compliments on: Wonderwood by Comme Des Garcon and Epic Man by Amouage.
