was playing pickup basketball against some younger kids like 17-19 years old from the hood. One of the kids blatantly fouled me, and had been doing so all game. I got up and pushed the kid basically said "what's wrong with you" to him and then he instantly clocked me in the face. I'm confused as I wasn't expecting it and turn around just as another dude sucker punches me in the face. I don't even react and kind of just stand there, the kids are waiting for me to fight back but I have no desire to hurt them or punch them, I just feel calm. No adrenaline, nothing. This all happened in about 5 seconds. The situation instantly de-escalates when they see I'm not going to fight back. These kids are both like 5'7-5-9 140-150 pounds whereas I'm 6 foot 175 lifting for a few years. I just asked them why they sucker punched me and threatened to call the police. They both apologized and said they overreacted and we ended up shaking hands after. No major injury, just slightly bruised face.

I've trained boxing for a few years, and have been doing BJJ and wrestling for half a year. My question is why didn't I feel a need to fight back? It feels really weird not wanting to fight back when you get punched in the face but that's exactly what happened. I feel like if I had no MMA training I would have tried to fuck these guys up?
