i've got a pretty solid LTR. a seriously solid 8 or 9 in looks and body, well educated and earning money with ambition to be self sufficient...we want to adopt children so i'm not worried about pregnancy ruining her, we've talked about marriage and she comes from the 'divorce is not an option' old-school camp. she willingly admits that she likes an alpha guy so most of our fights are diffused easily by me laying down the law...the worst she does is pout a bit but generally we haven't had a major argument or disagreement.

long story short: she has always struggled with depression. she said she did back in high school (we're 25 and 26 respectively now) and it seems to kind of ebb and flow now...this past winter she had weeks on end of really withdrawing, wanting to spend a lot of time alone (we don't live together), sleeping a lot. I'm not a psychologist but i tried reading stuff online, sounds like pretty typical depression type stuff. she does see a doctor on and off and has taken medication in the past but isn't right now.

basically: i don't want to be that guy that sits around with a crying girlfriend. when things are good, she is hilarious and fun and likes to go out and do stuff, but when they're not good she just totally withdraws and becomes a loner. am i total fucking idiot for thinking this woman is LTR material? she has these bouts for up to a couple weeks at a time, maybe every couple of months. we've been together 1.5 years; have i totally wasted my time here? has anyone ever had a gf/wife have these issues? are things only going to get worse?
