Just say, "damn dude you use a lot of handshake force, you trying to make up for something" laugh and give him a good smile.

A beta problem is not calling shit out. It's not exactly the most conflict free way to live but I go about my days saying what's on my mind as much as possible. "You seem upset, something bothering you?" And if you do that enough it won't just be when you're emotional it will be like putting your socks on. Don't pretend like the stuff you see isn't happening or you're not allowed to call it out. Unless it will really hurt someone emotionally, I draw the line there.

Had a similar situation, here's a life hacker article, but I take it one step further. Instead of just extending the index finger, I use my index and middle finger for more power/leverage. It keeps the aggressor from having the leverage to allow you to dominate.

I have a strong (probably too strong) handshake. It's not to assert dominance. It's just what I do.

Shake his hand harder if it hurts. It weakens his grip.

Crush his hand back and maintain eye contact or simply correct him in a playful manner. "Hey man, this is a handshake not a grip contest. Let's try this again" You can break down his behaviors and demeanor by not taking him so seriously and encouraging others to see through his bullshit. Or confront it directly and force a power struggle. Only do this if you think you'll win.

Stick your index and middle finger straight out almost as if you're trying to feel his pulse. Sounds fucking weird but it will make it harder to crush your hand. Try it out with a friend first if you don't believe me but an MMA instructor showed it to me and I do it with everyone I meet

He's testing you. He is seeing how much pain you will endure unnecessarily from him. Two things you can do to equal or on up him. First, use your middle finger to tickle his palm. This handshake important to him. Show him you think its a joke and make a comedy of his display of dominance. You will basically be beta-shaming him for stepping out of his beta-box. Or you can just pull him in for a handshake bro hug and just crush the fuck out of him. This is the social equivalent of two rams butting heads.

Just say something about it. A lot of people get this mentality that they need to shake hands hard or you won't view them as a man. Firm Handshake /= Death Grip. It doesn't mean he's trying to faggotize you, it just means this is what was pounded in his head.

I would have way more respect for the guy who speaks up and voices his issues face-to-face, as opposed to the guy who slinks off to the internet to mentally masturbate about how to reply.
