People are ignorant. The idea that a local plumber or electrician who runs his own business and makes house calls can make serious bank, often well in excess of some white-collar dude who got his B.A. in business and works an office job for a company, is just beyond most people. They can't get over the fact that you're working a blue collar job.

Physical labor has been stigmatized as "low class" for a very long time. But why do you give a shit what people say? Laugh all the way to the bank.

edit: Also some girls have the (correct) sense that if you earned your own money through hard work rather than inheriting it or using family connections that you will be less likely to spend it on frivolous shit i.e. shit they want for feels and status.

Not sure how you say it. Work on better phrasing. Tell them "I run a logistics company". Sounds pretty good to me. People might not know what that means. You might be misinterpreting their reactions.

Man you have a business, you know that if you reinvest wisely and find a way to scale it, there is no limit on how much money you can make. You can make 5-100x what a doctor makes just by building a scalable business. You don’t get rich being a hard worker for someone else. You get rich running your own business.

I left school at 14 a drop out loser, but I started a small business online at 18. By 26 I had built a company turning over 30k a day with a 45% net.

Grow your business, if people look down on you for running your own company they need a slap around the head.

Because for the longest time physical labor was ALWAYS for low paying farm hands. The less physical someone's job was the more important they must have been. But now that there is such an abundance of easy jobs through technology and people willing to work them the pay is less because of supply and demand. The pay changes but the culture remains.

Sometimes I lay tiles as a side. I get a out 1 to 2 jobs per month and per job I make $8-16k for about 350-500 sq ft (I don't do big ones). People have the same reaction to me as it is with you.

With my main job plus my tile laying gig I make more than most of my peers. Even if I do it as my main job I'd make a fuckton more.

Thing is I don’t really understand it cause to me in the end the only thing that matters is how I feel performing my job and what’s on my bank account at the end of the month.

The more you stick by this line of thinking, the tighter your frame will be for it.

There's a lot of people out there working mundane white-collar jobs, tethered to crippling debt (essentially the trophy for their stupid degrees), flush with regret, hating life every single day, self-medicating their problems away during those few precious hours away from the plantation, and it sounds to me like ...you're not one of them.

I'd tell you last laugh is your's (which, at this rate, it is), but you have plenty to laugh about now too. No need to rub it in their faces though. Smile, roll with the punches, keep stacking $ (but keep your $ on the hush), and continue to enjoy the view from 'above'.

You're already making above the average salary for your age. Owning a company sounds pretty good to me. 5 years down the line you probably won't even need to move a single thing yourself.

You've done very well. You're making decent money with your own business and you already have your degree. Good on you. Laugh it off with those people. You make a living as your own boss while they take orders, most for less pay than you.

On the other hand, try to scale that logistics business even more and tell people you run your own business, not "I work a job in logisitics" etc etc. If they press, say you own a logistics company. Anyone worth a shit will know there can be serious money in just about any business if you have the right value.

It really depends on the "values" of the job, how good you are at it, and how successful you are with it. For instance, if Chad is a vet at an animal hospital and Tyrone is a CPA, and makes 4x as much as Chad, girls will still be drawn more to Chad because of the perceived "values" of his job (rescuing and saving innocent cute baby animals versus a guy who reads balance sheets all day).

It's a modern 21st century capitalist economy, jobs that require more brainpower than muscle power are deemed more attractive because there's always more money to be made/higher ladders to climb with intellect-intensive jobs, but there's a cap to how many trees you can cut down in a given year.

a socio-economic belief that hasn't taken the plunge. Learning a trade used to be the way to go for most middle class boys and then it became college. the balance is tipping back but beliefs take a while to die off (literally, as generations die do so do beliefs)

Same thing goes for the military. Some people think it's a terrible idea but you get free college, paid travel, and much more

I work as a electrician. You can spend anywhere from 8-10 hours in a single day digging a trench for wire that’s going in a pipe. You might be going around someone’s house switching out all their light fixtures, outlets or light switches which isn’t very labor intensive. My career varies. Depends what contractor the union sends me to. I might be doing residential roughing, residential service work, commercial, industrial, etc. Nonetheless, it’s viewed as blue collar work and labor.

What people don’t realize you don’t even need to start your own business to make good money. If you’re willing to travel, for 6 months you can be in Washington state at a power plant basically dicking off with the other electricians making 3k a week working your 40 plus getting a pension and all that other shit. Next 6 months you’re in Arkansas doing some shit for $40-50/hr with the option of working 7/12s (84 hours a week) with time and a half. Do that shit for 15 years and your pension is looking good and hopefully you invested into a vanguard account and you can retire in your 40s.

You can not travel because you want something more family oriented. Go to like Colorado, California, somewhere out west or mid west. Make 30-50 an hour depending where you’re at. Work until you’re 60 with a nice pension.

However, I’ve never had a girl look down on me for doing manly work. I do tell them I love what I do and I’m happy what I’m doing.

Bro, if you’re making a lot of money then it’s a good job regardless of what it is. If you have your own business then it’s on another level. I don’t think people would look down on that. Maybe you’re just awkward.
