Currently reading No More Mr. Nice Guy. In the book he talks about "Not Reinforcing Undesirable Behaviors" in which he relates how humans are like dogs. Don't give attention to behaviors you don't find desirable. He says ignore the behavior and don't give into it.

I was a bit confused in this chapter. I try to take it everything with a grain of salt.

Earlier in the chapter he mentions how women WANT to be stood up to because women don't want a man they can walk all over. That is understandable.

So when would you stand up to a woman vs ignore the behavior?

Stand up to her, if she's attacking your character?

Ignore her if she is letting her emotions get to her?

Some examples, and how would you react to them?

Same example: how would you react if she was a plate and what if she was your wife? (I know marriage is out of the question for some, so you're not required to answer this, though I am curious)

Ex. 1: Wife/Plate comes over after work and is complaining about how shitty her job is and boss doesn't respect her...

Ex. 2: Wife/Plate begins verbally attacking you because she SUSPECTS you of fucking other women... (You never implied to the PLATE you were exclusive; your WIFE on the other hand you made a vow too)

Ex. 3: Your wife/plate begins to physically attack you because she thinks you're fucking other women

Ex. 4: You're working on something very important and your wife/plate comes in and begins complaining you don't give her enough attention
