Not sure how much this contributes but when I was fat (note a distinction between fat or overweight and obviously obese), I pulled easier than now that I am trimming down and losing the weight. I think it's because women do not know what muscle looks like. Think about it. They don't work out. They don't study the body. They just see mass.

So the bigger guys are able to get away with a cooler game/more laid back demeanor because they appear to 'carry a big stick'.

If you're in a poor rural area, despite romantization, guys are uglier the more rural you get. Shorter too. Probably someone that has ANYTHING can get a girl.
