Life is a journey, and you can choose your path.
If you choose to live your life in your bedroom, enjoying TV and video games and porn, where does that land you 20 years down the line?
If you choose to live your life working out, meeting people, forming relationships, bonding, fucking, dating, going out, where does that land you in a few decades?
The point is, in all likelihood, you'll be sad and alone before long, and stay that way in a spiral of depression, if you choose to forego the outside world in exchange for the easy pleasures engineered to give you a quick, easy, and constant fix. It's designed to be pleasurable, they profit off it.
But, by going out and meeting people, doing things, your ability to be a useful part of society only increases. You might be meeting boring women now, but don't you want to be able to attract an interesting woman when you finally find one? How do you know if that quiet girl at the bar isn't the most interesting person you've ever met?
No one has ever been on their deathbed and said "I wish I sat inside and watched more TV and watched more porn".

This hits home so fucking hard

Let me ask you this OP:
If you were really that happy, why did you take the pill? Why didn't you just keep on slowly throwing your life away one crusty sock at a time?
There have been a lot of answers here, many touch on meditation, stoicism, and spiritual topics. You're problem isn't that you're RP or BP or anything. You're problem is that you're constantly trying to fill a bucket with holes in the bottom of it. As we all are.
I don't know the answer, but I guarantee it's not in a video game or a porno.

i still occasionally stay home all weekend. it's not something you should never do, just make sure it's not what you do all the fucking time.
but this is only because i work my fucking ass off all week, and do social things most weekends. i need to recharge one weekend every month or two.
also, if i do stay at home, i make sure i clean my place thoroughly, because i can't handle hanging out in filth.
[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
God yes. I need a weekend every 4 or so just to myself. Sometimes I hang at the house in my pj's, vape weed all day and chill. Or I might go climb a mountain. Depends on how I feel. No porn because "a wolf that isn't hungry won't hunt."

Get a blood test done and make sure that check your testosterone levels.
Also make sure you are taking vitamin d daily.
Sounds like depression.

It's a legitimate question. If you're introverted and don't enjoy the company of other people, than forcing yourself into socializing may not make you happy. It's not as cut and dry as "all men want to do X"
[–]Trumpanoly 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
It is not a legitimate ideal to be a basement dweller, forever alone, 22 year old virgin. Re-read the first few sentences.
Depression can creep up on you, and makes you question positive life choices.
There is also an instinct to destroy everything that is good in life. It's why addicts find it almost impossible to break out of the 'cycle'.
The only cure is knowledge.
The only saviour is having the strength and fortitude to keep going at the moment you want to quit.
It fucking sucks, it fucking hurts, and of course I would prefer to lay around and fap all day. But as a man you know that a shit lifestyle like one described by OP is a fate no man deserves.
We will all be outta here in a few decades anyways, Fucking may as well make the most of it.
[–]SW9876 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Why is it not a legitimate ideal to be a basement dweller? The only reason I don't want it is because I wouldn't want to be living under someone else's roof. Let's say I acquired a billion dollars somehow. I'd buy a nice house and just chill forever. Sex, companionship, fame. Unnecessary. At least for me.

You're in the wrong sub for that.
TRP's mission is to increase men's sexual power and options. Anyone who does not share that goal will be banned the instant we detect them. That means you must be here for one or both of these reasons: You are a man who wants to improve your own control over your life, mostly your sex life. You want to help men achieve that goal.
[–]SW9876 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, I do both. If I had a billion dollars, probably not.

Congrats on deciding at the age of 22 that you should act like a fucking adult.

Maybe you can get your mom to give you a handjob after she changes your diaper then.

Too much of everything has the word ''too'' in front of it for a reason . Take a break , do the things you really like , now you don't have to prove nothing to anyone . Life is good nowadays . Use it . Being an introvert is many times misinterpreted by people . Even in TRP . If you dgaf about stuff then stay away from them . Being alpha doesn't mean fucking the hottest girls or being the buffest guy . It means having frame . Do what you want .

If you live in a landlocked region, get a bicycle and some gear to store water, tools and snacks. Then go on a long bike tour. Pitch a tent somewhere... then keep going.
Alternately you can just spend a whole day each week going a long distance.

Remember, there was a reason you came here. You weren't happy with your old life, with the loneliness, with the man you looked in the mirror. That wasn't the life you dreamed of.
You're looking at your past like a 25 year old nostalgic for the high school days, you would hate it if you went back.
What I would suggest is leave a very specific amount of time to engage your old activities. Don't let yourself get readdicted, but play video games for an hour or two a week. Rub one out if your plates are being difficult. You seem burnt out, you've obviously made progress but give a little bit of rest to yourself.

Its really not worth it...what is worth your time is working on something to leave on this earth after you're gone. That includes mentoring a young man, doing charity for people who don't have a thing to eat etc. In the end, we're all small. And, my opinion is that you should do what seems right to you. If being vigilent 24/7 to impress and game women who you dont even like, only at sexual level, is your thing, than by all means do it man. But remember, having regrets on your death bed can be the most painful thing a man can endure.

Cliche: "When you don;t know where you are going any road will get you there."
Life is a balance between the shit you have to do and the shit you want to do.
going after attractive but boring women
Aim higher.

Maybe you're just an introvert. If you are, congratulations, you should find something you're passionate about and use your tendencies to create something that changes people's lives.

Staying at home means shrinking your comfort zone.
Going out means expanding your comfort zone.
The smaller your comfort zone, the worse you will feel outside of it and vice versa.
At a certain point, your comfort zone will be so small that you will not even feel comfortable in what's left of your comfort zone. Given enough time, you will live in a zone where comfort has completely evaporated.
In other words, you are 100% depressed. Everything takes more effort than it should and the reward is close to inexistant. Eventually suicide will be the only rational instant fix for your suffering. Note that suicide is an instant fix. The kind of fix you have been accustomed to by allowing your comfort zone to shrink up till there.
On the other hand, constantly expanding your comfort zone in every possible direction is equally exhausting because the return on investment is hit and miss. Going overboard, or rather not approaching this in a smart way will cause you to burn out and drive you into a shrinking comfort zone.
The key is to pinpoint those areas in which expanding your comfort zone gains the highest returns.
For instance: coding -> profession -> finance -> time -> freedom > self esteem
game > women > connection > sex > self esteem
lifting > strength > health > self esteem
These three activities also work in synergy which further increases their value.
The morale is to be smart about where you expand your comfort zone and where you don't. The hard part is that being 'smart' means knowing what holds value to you. You need to know yourself before you can be smart about these choices.
The smarter you are about chosing where to expand your comfort zone, the more it's going to be worth it and the more you will feel fully alive.
Lifting and Game are so highly valued on TRP because they lead to almost universal value. Practically every human being wants to have more sex than less and wants to be more healthy than less. However not every human being wants to be able to survive in the wild on his own for 2 months straight, but some crave that experience or ability.
Find out what fulfills you.

Yeah well there's your problem. You lack that social drive, wanting to be part of a team/pack. I go insane if I'm inside for anything longer than a couple of hours. I just need to go out and do something.
We all do the shit you do from time to time. But you seem like an escapist. I'm going to go ahead and guess that you aren't really competitive. And if you are, just with video games.
Increase your sense of self worth, expect the very best of yourself.

Sorry to tell you, your little hamster is passing on that boring part. You are boring as fuck. You don't enjoy different activities because they involve you spending time with you.
So every time you have to get in touch with yourself emotionally, you become a catholic school girl doing it for the very first time. Its oh so very scary! And touching yourself is just SO DIRTY!
So fuck the world because, sure as shit, I won't ever take responsibility for my little, bitching, fucking hamster. Lets just give up because acting strong somehow is suppose to mean I am strong. But that's a fucking lie.
Are you really worth it? I say yes. But when you clearly say no, why the fuck ask TRP?
[–]guhajin -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
An all or nothing attitude might have helped you in the beginning, but it won't long term. It sounds like you've gone from one extreme to the other. It's not about being super social, it's more about not being asocial or missing opportunities when they do present themselves. Also, being an interesting guy means having a variety of interests. Contrast is cool. Who would you rather be friends with, the meathead who lives at the gym and talks about nothing but sports and protein powders, or the guy who's just as jacked but is ALSO into video games and is working towards his PhD? I mean, would you want to date some one dimensional girl who never ever left the house? No. Would you want to date a party girl who could never chill at home with you and watch some Netflix? No. Find balance grasshopper.
