This is the death ground strategy and it can be very effective, in fact it is what has helped me achieve most of my goals. I learned through many mistakes that a plan B while comforting decreased my drive of completing my primary goal. It comes from the 1500's when Cortés landed in Central America and began his conquest of Mexico, he had his men burn the ships. When you burn the ships there is no turning back the only choice is to move forward.

Run with plan A until the end. There is no plan B.

Personally I wouldn't 100% agree with this idea but it has a good point of being psychologically pressured to perform better knowing that you do not have any guaranteed safety net to fall back to.

I think there's two sides to this coin.

I can risk it all on [plan a] because I know if I fail I can rely on [plan b]

Vs

I'll try for [plan a] knowing [plan b] is the easy way out.

Sometimes having a plan b makes it harder to go for plan a because it's less risky. Soemtimes having a plan b means you can actually go for plan a because if you fail you've reduced risk.

Plan B only distracts from plan A. There is no plan B.

Hmm....know thyself.

But a man always has plans B and C, both on an approach or to life. Plan A sometimes never works out for reasons you cannot control. Thinking you can through hard work is going to bite you in the ass someday and if you think it was a failure of yourself that, I dunno, covid wrecked the economy then you can spend years dealing with failure, which is a big part of being a man.

I don't think you can be a man if you have not been forged in failure or suffering and if it has never happened to you then I suspect you are likely a man-child (not you specifically, OP).

If you cannot strive toward Plan A if you have a Plan B then how committed are you to Plan A to begin with?

Well he's talking shit because when he moved to America and started in bodybuilding competitions, he worked in construction to pay the bills.

Just work as hard as you can at everything. Surely you can always try again? It's not like if you fail to get a certain job that's it FOREVER and you can never get a similar/better job and are locked into a low-paid job for life.

Think for fucks sake.
