Downton Abbey and a lot of British literature focused around the aristocracy.

edit: another guilty pleasure I have is Gilmore Girls. The writing is so witty, quick, reference rich that it's a great mental exercise to try and follow the drama. It's not really an example of manipulation but it's a wonderful example of female hamstering, covert language and subtle power plays.

I'm watching The Borgias now. It's a great reminder that "justice is fairness" is something only poor people could believe, and that rationality is the cardinal tool of the socially retarded. The real engines of society are people who think injustice is them losing any of their stuff/influence, or the gaining of stuff/influence by people who they know will use it against them. It shows you that it's most relevant to focus on people with influence, to know who has power, and who know how the game could change if power is shifted.
