Women will get all affectionate for different reasons. For example, doing really well on a test at school will put her in a good mood. Good mood also makes her affectionate.

Alternatively, she gets a shit ton of validation from an ex who dumped her. This makes her feel good, and those feelings make her more affectionate in general.

The fact that she said Merry Christmas means they are open for business(she should have just ignored him). If you did not catch it, she would be responding to his “I miss you” text. This is a slippery slope to meeting up, and then fucking her ex.

Personally, chatting with an ex is a deal breaker with hard next consequences. I suggest you figure out what your boundaries are.

Think about it, you've been with this girl for 2+ years and now suddenly her ex says he misses her? If he's a beta who hasn't had another girl since her and is still hung up on her for that reason, then no worries. If he's a handsome guy who gets girls, you've gotta think he's seen her in less than the past few weeks.
