Condoms are not 100% against herpes and HPV, but they're effective against almost all other nasty stuff. Take a potential out on a date or two and let your gut guide you.

Don't do ONS, because at some point, if you do, you will contract herpes regardless of condom or not.

Just acknowledge that you will probably get herpes. I hear it's not so bad. Most doctors don't test for it anymore because it's so common so even girls who are honest with you may not know they even have it.

Don't become a player if you can't accept the risk. They say that the way you know you've become a player is when you get herpes.

Herpes is skin-to-skin, thus a condom is only going to protect you in the spots it covers. Meaning condoms do shit-all to protect against it.

Best advice I can give you is to jump in the shower IMMEDIATELY after sex. And use Condoms. Also investigate Prep, which is a medication used primarily for gays, but also has applications for hetero sex partners as well. Prep is basically a pill which kills HIV, my doctor described it as "like a condom for AIDS". The prevention chance for Prep is also incredibly high, higher than condoms actually.

Otherwise, look, smell, touch, taste (in that order). GTFO if anything looks off. Don't bother confronting, hamster wheel will just tell you they are pimples.
