I have literally watched guys attempt to hit on or simply talk to women as they work out and be completely ignored. Hitting on women at the gym is a fools errand.
[β]AltruisticFireandIce 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And also a super annoying experience for a woman. Just let me do my thing in the gym and leave me alone.
[β]ebell1989 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I know the feeling. Not to be hit on but just being talked to. LoL I don't go to the gym to socialize. The people that do drive me nuts.
[β]SteveM4444 -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The stereotype is every fit guy is a douchebag and most of the ones that talk to girls are. I've witnessed it to, but I go enough and see the same people quite often. Some guys try and are ignored and some try and succeed. I feel like the gym is a reading the situation game. I've had girls go on treadmills beside and there are 30 treadmills and no one up there but me. I just play it safe and keep to myself.
[β]nihongotabenai 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Donβt get why youβre getting disliked. Itβs totally a situation game. If the girl has her hat all the way down, earphones in, do not try. If she has the opposite and is staring at you (obv not as in ew what is he looking at) doesnβt hurt to try. Worst case, she says sheβs gotta workout...
[β]SteveM4444 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Its the stereotypical douchebags disliking lol. Yeh its not like I am asking how to cold approach every girl I find attractive. There are times at the gym where girls are staring or looking over and watching and I just ignore it. But when they are as persistant as they are with looking over and watching its hard to ignore.

Do. Not. Try. To. Pick. Up. Women. At. The. Gym.
Most of them want to be left alone. At best they want to be your bro. If you "have to" try something... No, nevermind. Don't.
[β][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This! The gym is like the bathroom. It is a sacred place. Do your thing and get out. Also, women get approached by so many amateurs at the gym. Chances are, you are already rejected before you even open your mouth. Besides, the gym is the place to focus on YOU! Not others. Its your time, and its theirs as well.
[β]Slow-Association6105 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Do you have any evidence for them wanting to be left alone? Did you gather a random sample? I think it depends on the woman. It definitely takes a real man to hit on women at the gym. I think at the very least she should respect you for that.
No it takes a real idiot to hit on a woman in the gym. Leave us alone there. This is the nr 1 thing women donβt like about the gym. In the gym I am focusing on selfcare and donβt want to be distracted by clowns that want to get validation, who I then have to argue with that I donβt want to go out with them. Focus on yourself in the gym
[β]Slow-Association6105 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Talking to women makes you a βclown seeking validationβ.. and you are on r/seduction why?

This comment π This is why I donβt make eye contact with anyone while at the gym. Staring while working out only make them uncomfortable as a lot of women are very conscious of their body especially when wearing workout clothing. Also it takes some courage to lift for women when most of men workout at the gym are male. Do not put her on the spot when she is already half uncomfortable just being at the gym sometimes. As a heterosexual woman, I find men with nice body who seems dedicated to work out is hot but most of times, most of them donβt have a clue what they are doing in the gym which is laughable.

You mean sitting on my phone on a machine for 15 minutes at a time won't build muscle.
[β]goodmorning39 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Iβm interested in what others think but to me it is a slow play situation like a coworker. Make a comment about something and see if she wants to talk a few times. See if she ever initiates. I donβt think trying to get a date or number on first conversation is the best move.
[β]SteveM4444 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I agree, that was my thought process behind it also.
[β]goodmorning39 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Everyone is so negative on it because they are thinking of the creepy guy coming up to a woman mid set.. Iβve worked in gyms before and have seen guys successfully flirt with and get women. There needs to be a different strategy for someone you will likely see again vs a one time occurrence.
[β]SteveM4444 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yeh I would imagine it would be equivalent to a coworker. Sayy hey here and there, start a convo and build from that.
[β]Juan7797 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Go for it. They like the taking charge aspect, if they reject you kindly appreciate th for there time and wish them well. they love a confident man and it'll make you stand out.
Go for it be spontaneous, be daring. It becomes a rish after a while. Hoghly reccommend over lxoming that fear to get to the best moments of your life. Are you willing to face your fear to do that?
[β]SteveM4444 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeh fair enough. I'm easy going and laid back. Don't really care about rhe rejection part. I just know I hate being bothered during a workout and I'm not trying to bug then during and I am not waiting around until they are done. Feels just as creepy as staring at them lmao
[β]Juan7797 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
That's your breaking point for conversation man! Trll em hey I dont mean to bother you but I also didnt want to look like a creep light laugh and proceed what you need to say.
use something like, I'd perfer to not bother you during a workout, bit I just couldn't help it, or but you were an exception.
Use that as leverage for conversation! Best of luck my man!!

I feel like it's super important not to hit on people in their safe space
I think OP will just go ahead anyway despite the comments advising otherwise.
[β]tristian_lay 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Youβve got to look out for IOIs. Some sexy girls only are there to workout and others are open. See if they hold eye contact and respond to a smile or two by reciprocating or moving close to you.
[β]lacaseraorange 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
What NOT to do when you spot a hot girl in the gym: 1) Don't stare at her/ while she's working out. I've had a group of three men staring during a 90 min workout while gossiping about my clothes/my body.
2) Don't interrupt her in the middle of her reps.
3) Don't forget to make eye contact (smile optional) before you approach. If she doesn't make the eye contact back, she probably wants to be left alone.
Tips guys in my gym use: 1) I've been seeing more and more guys coming to yoga. In fact it's now a 50-50 split. Pretty easy to talk to people before and after a yoga class as there's a good team spirit and it's a social practice. If yoga is not for you, a hot guy asked for my number after a circuit training session where I was paired with him.
2) some guys chat to women in the swimming pool: "Glad the pool isn't packed today", "It's been ages since I last swam", etc.
[β]SteveM4444 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Good amount if them I've seen on tinder during lockdown but that makes sense. Usually I am not paying enough attention because I am doing my own workout. Also hard to exchange smiles while everyone has to wear a mask lol
[β]ebell1989 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This. Body language especially in the face is super important. If all we have to go off in the face is eye contact it makes people extremely hard to read.
[β]SteveM4444 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly so I tend to keep to myself. Im pretty quiet guy anyways. I was looking over towards a girl one day and I noticed her looking back over but never thought anything of it. I usually dont. We left at the same time and she looked over and smiled and I smiled back but havent seen her since sadly.
Yeh I'm not the wierd type to stare at people. I keep to myself. Honestly I am there to workout, I couldn't careless what other people are doing. I've had a couple girls look over and purposely pick a treadmill beside me and once they took a picture of me which was weird. But I was just curious if its worth pursuing or are they just looking randomly everytime I look over or in the direction lol.
[β]Spicymayo_0507 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Only problem is that creepy types donβt think themselves as creepy. Pick a treadmill beside you could mean absolutely nothing. That is not good enough reason at all...
And i didnt talk dod deven acknowledge they were beside me
I feel like Not trying to be a creep is like a serial killer saying I'm not a serial killer. π
Thanks, but most women dont like the slidong in the DMs approach and creeping on social media isn't my thing :p

You just need a convo starter. For example, ask her if she can spot you. Say she spots you on dumbbell shoulder press or something. After your set, say thanks. She'll say no prob. Then just ask her name and go from there. This one is easy, but it won't work for everyone girl because not all of em can spot heavy weights or they don't know how. If she's a real fitness chick who knows what she's doing and can tell she can actually spot you it'll work. Don't expect this to work if she's a newbie or a yoga chick who just does cardio. Another way is to ask her if you can jump in and use the machine she's using while she rests. This can easily transition into an ice breaker without making you seen weird. Only issue, this can only work if the gym is packed or something. So key thing is, you just gave to find a way to introduce yourself and learn about her, without coming off like that's your intent. These are examples of simple excuses to have a convo.
Yeh, good advice. Sadly with covid the spotting and stuff doesnt quite work but could be used in other ways. Thanks!

I got to know one girl that trains at my gym recently. She was scheduling her workout after training and I was walking out at the same time. On the way to the parking lot I was telling her the best way to schedule workouts is to call first thing in the morning at the start of the week and schedule your entire week. Next time I saw her she approached me and thanked me. Since then, she's always making small talk with me. I'm not particularly interested in her and idk if she is aswell. Nothing personal, she is attractive. But that's just another example of something that could work idk. It seems that the best thing tho is to just be bold and go up to them. If you feel weird doing that in the gym, you could always approach a chick in the gym parking lot and make some bs. Let's say you get out your car and see her get outta hers. You can be like "he sorry to bother you, I was wondering if you know what time the gym closed today?" From there it's smooth sailing. The thesis here is just be clever and find excuses to chat.
Yeh fair enough

Here is an unique answer. Alot of gyms in big cities can be tagged on Instagram. So if you look up that location tag on IG you can see everybody who take pics at gym. So you can search through the pictures and see if you see a cutie you've seen at the gym. Then you can check out her IG page and do your homework to see if this is someone you'll like to slide into the DMs with. Agree with comments that you leave people be while at gym. If they are publicly sharing their page though it gives you a window to say what's up through IG.
Now, if you wanted to cross the forbidden line you could approach someone post workout and say... "Hey, I am pretty sure I follow you on Instagram". Make small talk for a short minute, and then follow up with sliding into DMs. I wouldn't do it right away but when she post something of interest, like visiting a new restaurant. So then you can follow up by showing interest with restaurant while breaking the ice for conversation.
