Well if we take it that those two things, making her uncomfortable and scaring her, are your sole problems then I will say this. Approach women at an open space with a lot of people around at broad daylight, because it's the least intimidating scenario for her. Better yet, approach her when she's with her friends. It will be less likely she will feel scared, but maybe you will be too intimidated to approach. But you gotta get over that.

norwegiandoggo said you should ask them for a favor. I mean, when you are at step 1 and a complete beginner I guess that's fine, but you should move past that very quickly. In general I think indirect openers are a waste of time and I feel like a newbie could easily get stuck in that phase. In fact, I'd argue being direct (in a tactful way) is more comforting and less scary to her, because she immediately knows why you approached her.

dont set your expectations too high. Like dont try and say "im gonna go up to 10 woman and get them all to FUCCKKKKKKK me". your just setting yourself up for failure. What you should do is start small. Like say "if I say hi to 4 woman that is enough today". Then slowly over time ramp up the amount you do.

Also Cold approach is very close to sales and in sales you will be rejected A LOT. Like to put into perspective even when you become a master of the seduction arts you only get 3/10 woman you approach. Which is actually pretty great but what that means is that there is always gonna be more rejections then acceptance even when you are like a seduction guru. With these situations just be trying to work on something and you'll be good.

If you feel blocked by your own fear, reframe your thoughts to something positive, like "she could be my next gf" or "she could be a great fuck".

Then again, it's gonna take a while to get used to doing this: even now that I feel quite comfortable asking anyone out, I still feel a slighty anxiety / excitement when I'm about to, especially to someone entirely new.

One more thing: don't overdo this just for the sake of doing it. The strategy of a thousands approaches is dumb and makes no sense. If you make the same things 1k times wrongly, you'll never progress.

Just go with what you feel like, there's more to this in life. Spamming approaches is a waste of time.
