Hey seddit,

I have been lurking for about a year or so now and I have learned a great deal of information, but I am still struggling. To give a little background about myself; I am a 19 year old Freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (go badgers!), I have a solid group of friends that I smoke and drink with on a regular basis, I am in the best physical shape of my life and I am a decently attractive guy. On the other hand, I suffer mild anxiety and have confidence issues that have been holding me back for quite a while now. I have no problems holding a conversation (assuming the subject matter is at least somewhat interesting), but I have no idea how to initiate them. To be honest, I am a slightly awkward introvert and the whole idea of approaching scares the literal shit out of me. I get nervous even just thinking about it. I know I am an interesting person with interesting things to say, but the whole idea of being put on the spot really triggers my anxiety. I know this topic comes up often on this subreddit and I have read countless testimonies on how to combat approach anxiety, but I just can’t seem to do it. I am not a social recluse in anyway and I have had some valuable experience with girls, albeit not that much. To put it bluntly, I guess what I’m trying to ask is how do I unleash my inner badass? I know he’s in there somewhere and I have seen him come out on several occasions. How do I convert these spurts of confidence into something more permanent? How do I engrain this confidence into my personality and become this person I want to be? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks for listening seddit!
